David Brock and 24,000 others have signed a petition requesting Sec Rumsfeld remove Rush Limbaugh from Armed Forces Network (AFN). David Brock states in his first letter, Mr. Limbaugh, whose program is broadcast for one hour per day to U.S. troops overseas, has spent the past four weeks condoning and trivializing the abuse, torture, rape and possible murder of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. guards at the Abu Ghraib prison-gross misconduct that you have described as "fundamentally un-American." On his May 4 broadcast, Mr. Limbaugh said of the abuse that occurred at Abu Ghraib - abuse so horrific that President Bush wants to demolish the prison -- "This is no different that what happens at the Skull & Bones initiation. ... I'm talking about people having a good time. These people -- you ever heard of emotional release? You ever heard of needing to blow some steam off?" On May 6, Mr. Limbaugh called the abuse a "brilliant maneuver" and compared the photographs to "good old American pornography." This is gross misrepresentation of Rush Limbaugh, as well as defamation of Rush Limbaugh's character. Rush's loyal listeners are well aware he never condoned the actions of the soldiers at Abu Ghraib. David Brock accuses AFN of having a "rightward tilt and not letting the liberal side be heard". These allegations are false. I know, I was stationed overseas, and most of the news reporting on AFN is slanted to the left. There is very little conservative news reporting on AFN, who uses news from CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS--all liberal networks. Rush Limbaugh aired for only one hour on weekdays. His is the only conservative voice of talk radio on AFN overseas. Censoring Rush will violate the rights of military members who want to hear his program. If anything, we need more Rush--not less. The following signatures represent those who support keeping Rush Limbaugh on AFN. We also request that Secretary Rumsfeld disregard the petitions of David Brock and Stop Media Matters for America.

I DO NOT support this petition. Flush Logbaugh never served in the military. He is a Hypacrite. Under Bush's control, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the middle class is shrinking into the lower class. By the way, I served my country honerably.

if you think ABC is liberal media, then you should let Rush know he's working for the enemy, because his radio show airs on WABC radio. if he's so against the "liberal" media, then he shouldn't be working for them.

We need MORE Rush here in the combat zone, someone that doesn't display negative views about our mission here.

Rush has always been an avid supporter of our military, and any regular listener knows that!

As a military member, I want to hear from those who support what we do, and that includes Rush Limbaugh.

I listened to Rush that first week after the pictures started to came out. Most of those comments were in response to callers comments and were taken completely out of context. The only ones who should be able to achieve removing from AFN are its customers... military members.
