Outlaw the Sale of Used Undergarments and Lingerie

We at Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie (www.PamperedPassions.com) would like to do our part to support the outlaw of the sale of used undergarments nationwide. We need to either stop retailers from accepting used undergarment returns, or for those companies with an open return policy, make it illegal for the to re-sell used underwear items.
Currently, a bill is working its way through both chambers of the General Assembly that would make it illegal for retailers to sell undergarments and bathing suits that have previously been sold and returned. Through this petition, we’d like to show our full support of that bill.
In March 2010, The Today Show on NBC did an expose on the sale of used undergarments and found that leading retailers such as Macy’s, Victoria’s Secret and The Gap were re-selling returned and used undergarments. In the clip, a microbiologist that says it can be dangerous to wear used underwear as it can harbor dangerous germs and diseases for weeks. This poses serious health threats to women.
Above all we believe selling used undergarments is, simply put, not a good business practice. If the retailers won’t voluntarily ban the sale of used and returned undergarments (and ENFORCE those policies), then the act should be punishable by law. As a lingerie retailer we are astonished and disgusted that this is happening and we do not allow this to happen in our stores.

Currently, Maryland legislators are working on a bill that would make it illegal for retailers to sell undergarments and bathing suits that have previously been sold and returned.
