I support this petition. There is a certain responsibility that that the Media (Speed TV) should carry in portraying a sport that involves many aspects of motorcycling and not just the "Bad Boy" image of a sport that has such a broad range.
because we (the sport bike community) do not and will not take this lying down. while its true there are the bad eggs, they are in every group and should not be in the spotlight, giving us a bad name. I live to ride and ride to live and will not be portrayed as a squid who puts other peoples lives in danger just to "look cool". get this show off the air and bring back Two Wheel Tuesday! atleast they actually had intelligent things to say and kept our lifestyle in the good light.
The show "Sportbikes" is a weekly reminder of the crap movie "Torque"!! Yes it is part of the sport, but we don't need everyone out there trying it, and making the rest of us look bad when they crash into a car full of Nuns!
Motorcylists are not stunters, street racers or very LITTLE of what you portray on your show "Superbikes". Greg White is a "Motorcylist" , and his show ruled. New product lines, new bike reveiws, new riding gear, racing recaps, Motocross, Supermoto, Flat Track, Scrambles, Vintage and Road racing. Two Wheeled Tuesday hit EVERY spectrum of motorcycling. Your new show, fails miserably. Bring back Greg White and Two Wheeled Tuesday.

It gives motorcyclists a bad name and makes non-riders think we are all squid-tastic morons who are reckless and dangerous. The show is a disgrace to the sport of motorcycling.
Superbikes is a show designed by squids for squids about a bunch of idiots riding in circles and doing burnouts and wheelies. I especially love the segments on how to put snap-on parts and nitrous on your bike to try and make you look less like a tool...guess what its not working. I want racing coverage and I want two wheel tuesday. I went up to Laguna seca for moto gp and i made a shirt that said "bring back two wheel tuesday" and the consensus amoung the real riders who love the sport, was that my shirt was right on, I even went by the speed tv booth and incited a riot and told the host of superbikes that he and his NASCAR-sponsored channel are totally in the wrong!
I have personally met Jason Britton and ridden with him in California and think he is an incredible rider. I do not agree with the format of this show. More could be done to show the difference between "Stunting" and other forms of legitimate riding. I support all disciplines of riding but I think the execution in this case is flawed.
Superbikes is a terrible show, highlighting only the worst parts of sportbike culture. Typically featuring a bunch of antisocial meatheads who brag about breaking laws. Sad, truly sad. I liked Two Wheel Tuesday with Greg White a LOT better than this awful piece of trash.
Letter sent to SpeedChannel on 28 June 2006;
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing you today to convey my displeasure in regards to the content of your new show “Super Bikes!” I have had my motorcycle license for 17 years and love riding my sport bike. It is a hobby that is threatened, and I would truly hate to see disappear. My GSX-R is built for speed, braking and cornering, but only so much can be done legally on public streets with responsibility and common sense.
To broadcast a show such as this with people blatantly disregarding the law by doing wheelies and burnouts on public streets is portraying sport bike riders in a bad light and is very irresponsible. The view of much of the public of motorcyclists especially those of us who ride sport bikes is that of dangerous, reckless youngsters with a death wish.
I am not saying you can’t show burnouts and wheelies but the best place to do those things is the track. I want to see bike reviews. Bring us a show where we can see what a bike can do in a responsible setting.

This is the most pathetic motorcycle show I've ever seen. What do squids in chrome brain buckets and blinged out bikes have in common with Superbikes? I thought 2Wheel Tuesday was bad but this is a joke. I was disguisted and wanted to vomit when I tried to watch it tonight. THIS IS NOT SUPERBIKES! Speed, please get this damn joke off the air and e-mail me for better ideas.
Motorcycles have, and always will be fun. Having fun and being totally irresponsible are different as stunting and actually knowing how to ride a motorcycle. Greg's garage perhaps was not the answer but this "Superbikes" show imbarrasses me as a motorcyclist, to say nothing about our sport's image in the non m/c public eye.
Two Wheel Tuesday knew how to get it done. Legally, Morally, and Safely. The public does not need to see a bunch of squids representing all of the sportbike community.
Thanks for confirming every stupid stereotype about sportbike riders, catering to sensationalist journalism, and confiriming the insurance companies' conviction that rates must be raised because we'll all stunting on the street. Please show sportbikes on the track. We want to see racing.
Your previous show Greg's Garage portrayed motorcyclists in a positive light. What was wrong with that? As the petition says, I would rather you not portray the 1%'ers to the public. They only make us all look bad. The motorcyclists I know do not approve of "stunting" on public roadways nor parking lots. Those are not the actions of main-stream motorcyclists.
This show only reinforces stereotypes of sportbike riders as common hooligans, doing stupid, stupid, illegal crap on public roads. I don't mind seeing stunting, but please don't encourage this activity on public roads.
It never ceases to amaze me that how difficult it is to get even the slightest TV coverage of motorcycle enthusiasts acting in a positve manner (Like the PBTFUS Ride for Kids) but sensationalist TV programming directors will jump all over a show that depicts the smallest sportbike marketing segment (stunters) as the majority. I have no problem with stunters themselves as long as their skills are developed/displayed anywhere but public roads where their actions will not impact others.
I watched about half the first episode and all I can think is how at the end of my life how much it would mean to me to have that time back.
It is inconcievable that someone at Speed, much less enough people to actually change the programming, would replace Two Wheel Tuesday with this rubbish. Sad

I get enough shit from cops and non-riders as-is without this stupid show glorifying the ass clowns acting like a menace on the streets. Sportbikes are not stunt toys. Buy a trials bike retard and stay off the public roads! Regardless of what you do your "look at me, I'm cool" tricks on, STAY OFF THE PUBLIC ROADS!
I dont support the petition due to the fact that it depicts all levels of the sportbike community, I am a sportbike rider and have been so for the past 26yrs. It is the responsibility of the rider OR VIEWER NOT the show grow up guys.
motorcycles get a bad enough rap without showing a bunch of idiots doing stupid/illeagal stuff on the street... going fast on a race track is safe and legal.
