We, the undersigned, support the development of a train system that will connect Dallas, Grand Prairie, Arlington (namely the University of Texas at Arlington) and Fort Worth. This initiative is spawned because of a lack of public transportation from and to these communities mentioned. The benefit of the people of North Texas will be great. The existing Trinity Rail line that just touches the northern tips of these communities is useless for those who have no cars to access that line. For commuters, that can’t help but contribute to the congested highway problem, and those who care about our environment and the pollution that comes from car oil and gas, we the people plead for an environ-mentally friendly form of mass transportation. The existing freight lines, belonging to GM, pass through the hearts of all the mentioned communities. These lines pass right by the University of Texas at Arlington, and the future Cowboy’s stadium. Could there not be an agreement reached that would allow for commuter trains to be scheduled around the freight trains, or a new rail line built along side the existing GM line. The proposed train line would bring business to all parties involved, including tax from ticket sales.

I'm returning to school after 20+ years (going to UTA, living in Garland)
and was amazed to find out Arlington has no mass transit for DART to
connect with. I support this petition. |

Public transportation is needed. The longer the metroplex waits, the more
painful it will be. Arlington would feel the rewards of having a rail line
between Arlington Municipal Airport and DFW Airport. Connecting to
Mansfield would be even better. A large station at the entertainment
district would help as well. A person could fly into DFW, get a hotel near
the stadium and spending an evening in Fort Worth or Dallas. Residence of
Arlington should be able to catch a train to see the Mavs play in Dallas or
hit the Square in Fort Worth. Reduced money spent on gas would mean more
money spent on other goods and services. One of UTA's smaller parking lots
would make a great station. A small lot worth of commuters would be
eliminated by the station. |

A covenient Rail facility or DART could reduce the traffic on the roads and
make commuting easier. |

The question is, why wasn't this part of the Stadium package? |

This is a great vision, it would help connect communities promote a more
civilized metroplex. |

Commuting by train is a wonderful time to catch up on reading, music or
just to relax. Look at the success DART is having. |

I believe that Arlington and UTA needs a transit system. From what I
understand, Arlington is one of the largest cities in the US that has no
mass transit. Arlington and UTA will need to get with and support NCTCOG,
DART and the TRE system. |

It's a long shot since Arlington consistently votes against public
transportation, but would be an invaluable addition to DFW. Good luck! |

A rail system to and from UTA would be a great benefit. Maybe it could tie
into the DART system at some locations, too. |

I've always heard that Arlington residents did not want mass
transit of any kind and have always voted no to this proposition. |

After a 6-10 pm studio after a full day of work, woouldn't it be
great to just get on a train...instead of fighting to stay awake through
the i-30 construction back to Dallas! Let's bring Arlington at
least into the 19th century.... |

Let's get this done. All of these communities need this and it
will be an economic engine worht more that it costs initally. |
