I recently saw a petition for the removal of Scientology from the Tax Exempt Status because it is “not a real religion”.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought to myself and then contacted to poll owner as follows:

Who are you to decide what is and is not a religion? I know I am not qualified to make a decision like that for others.

Where do you draw the line on making a decision?

Who gets to draw that line?

The 1st amendment clearly states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,….”

I do not believe any religion deservers a tax exempt status since that shows favoritism to some religions above others.

So why pick on just one “religion”?

Therefore:

I believe in the basic values that this country was founded on and I am a supporter of freedom of all religions and the right to no religion. In order for religion to be free it has to stay untied to the government, both financially and politically. If you share these opinions about tax exempt status then please sign this petition. I will forward it to the House and the Senate when 50,000 signatures are received.

Thank you for your time.

We, the signed petitioners, seek to have the federal government remove the tax exempt status of all religious institutions on both a Federal and State level.

Although I do agree with what you're trying to say about religion and tax equilibrium, I still believe that the Church of Scientology is a deadly cult and it needs to be shut down for good. Do your research. I did. I know why the IRS cut off tax exemption status to Scientology from 1967 until 1980. It's because they're a cult, plain and simple. They practice activities in their religion that interfere with public policy and that is against code 501(c) (3) of the religious tax exempt status protocol. I don't agree with the IRS either, taxing the shit out of everything. It isn't even written in the law that you have to pay income tax, but they still enforce it. I say if the IRS has to pick on anyone, let it be $cientology, not ordinary innocent people.

Why not remove all religious organizations from tax-exempt status?

I agree 100%. There is just too much religious nonsense in our government system right now.
