What is the AKC thinking of ???
"ALL PRIVILEGES SUSPENDED - LIFE TIME SUSPENSION " What message are you wishing to send to ALL the AKC members in go standing ??? Just keep sending your money and do not worry, no matter what you do we will take your money and you will still be in good standing with US, Oh Yes ! This is the message I know all fair minded people would like sent to their children and grand children. Wake up do the RIGHT thing,
AKC PRIVILEGES SUSPENDED FOR LIFE.
Do you(AKC)really what this individual to be a member in good standing with your organization??? I was under the impression that AKC was top notch, as well as their employees and members. By allowing Clover Hedlund to maintain all of the privilages that AKC offers, you are creating a very unsafe environment for the rest of us and I will not allow my children to participate via AKC registrations or AKC shows. I do not want them to associate with this type of person or an organization that is standing behind her actions. She was convicted in a court of law...what in GODS name is wrong with you???
I find it very dissapointing that such a long established Registry for pure bred dogs would allow any person to take someone else's dog and neuter it without any type of permission. What is to stop other people from doing this to their competitors dogs that they don't think they can win against? Please reconsider this decision before anything else like this could happen again. It is the respectable thing to do.
well it dose not surprise me at all that the AKC is not doing any thing Do they ever!! they seem take a blind eye to every thing in less there a buck in for them!!KEEP WORKIN ON THAT WEB SITE AKC MAKE THAT BUCK!AND LETS NOT DO WHATS RIGHT....
By not revoking AKC privleges for this individual, the AKC is in essence condoning this type of behavior. The crime warrents permanent suspension and no less.
I also am appauled at the decision by the AKC. I agree with John Glenn from California. I too have always been proud of my AKC standing. Where are our rights and protection? I shudder to think that this person can continue in dogs under the cloak of protection and prestige of the American Kennel Club after commiting such a devious act. It is clear as by evidence in the courts that she had malice aforethought! Please reconsider your decision. JJ Perks, Ocala, Florida
I have always been proud of being a member and an owner of an AKC registered dog. I have only been at this going on 9 years now but This has to be the worst decision by the AKC that I have ever seen. Does this mean that if you have a great dog for example, someone can come on the show grounds and stealyour dog, neuter or spay him or her and the AKC will do absolutely nothing???? Even after being convicted of a felony in criminal court. Surely you are kidding...RIGHT?? Please re examine this gross oversight and do the right thing. Respectfully. John J. Glenn...Stockton,Ca.
The AKC should seriously reconsider this situation. The theft and neutering of the dog goes against all principles and is a felony in our court of law. This individual should be banned from the AKC and dog showing indefinitely. Please reconsider your decision, you are the main registry that people look to, and an example and precedent needs to be made.
I find it to be a grave injustice to the dog's owners and an insult to the dog fancy community as a whole that Ms. Hedlund's privileges have not been revoked. Hopefully AKC will reconsider.
Clearly, this is a very poor decision made by the AKC concerning these serious charges, in the matter of finding Ms. Hedlund not guilty of a wrongful doing to another exhibitors dog..This decision also sets a bad example. The theft and altering of this dog should warrant extreme penalities followed by a LIFE-TIME suspension from all AKC privileges!
This should certainly be a suspendable act when one considers the fact that hse has been convicted in a court of law. I'm shocked that privileges are not suspended for a long time if not forever.
The AKC will suspend an exhibitor for making rude remarks to a judge or being a bad sportsman. This is much worse. Please, AKC, reconsider your decision not to act in this particular case.
I find it hard to believe that stealing and neutering a dog, not to mention being convicted of the same, is not considered by AKC to be conduct prejudicial to the sport of purebred dogs meriting suspension of priviledges.
I think it is a disgrace that AKC can be so strict on some policies yet so relaxed on something as important as dog theft and neutering of a fellow competitor's dog. I think if the US Courts can find this person guilty of a felony act that AKC should support their findings and back up the judicial system
Jealousy is a powerful thing. She should never be able to look or own another dog that is a show quality dog. She will regret doing what she did in the end.
If this person gets by with stealing a fellow exhibitor's dog and rendering it unbreedable, and gets buy with it, then I am positive that others will feel that is an option for their competition, and that will significantly impact not only the gene pool for it's breed, but it will also mean less dogs/puppies to be registered and a loss of income to AKC. If a court of law investigates and finds the person guilty that should be enough to base a reprimand by AKC. Without an AKC reprimand the act will occur repeatedly and no one's dog will be safe at a show, and it's impossible to have your eyes on your dog(s) every minute.
I can't believe that Ms. Hedlund retains her AKC priviledges. By stealing and neutering a Champion dog, she damaged any contributions that he may have had to his breed.
I find it hard to believe that stealing and neutering a dog, not to mention being convicted of the same, is not considered by AKC to be conduct prejudicial to the sport of purebred dogs meriting suspension of priviledges.
This matter should be taken care of by AKC, and by the rules and reg they have taken the time to make. This is clearly a problem that I am sure has happened before with others. We need to be able to go to AKC and report this and have some consequences to the quilty party.
While I don't believe in breeding while there are dogs being euthanized. This behavior needs punishment. No one has the right to steal another's property. This is not only unlawful but two of the ten commandments. Not Steal and not covet....
I really hope that you decide to turn your decision. This SHOULD NOT be allowed to go unpunished!!! It is a AKC rights should be a privilege NOT a right!! And if you do something to violate that privilege, it should be removed!! If the courts and county found this to be unlawful, so should AKC! Ms Hedlund is a thrat to ALL of us!
AKC protects the judges from nasty comments, but not the dogs from theft. That's sad. She was convicted, what more does AKC need to suspend her rights???
People need to be held responsible for their actions! AKC-how can you NOT supend this person's priviledges! You must reconsider your position on convicted criminals within the organization and within our sport of purebred dogs.
I can't believe that AKC would condon stealing a dog. No one is safe from competitors that can't win, so they'll just take the dog. SUSPENSION FOR LIFE
AKC, we as owners and handlers showing our breeds, must always follow your rules and guidelines, what's up with it being double standards, you better wake up, "NOW"
I had a similiar situation occure with a female of mine that was being held captive.I made a point of going down to pick my dog up, I had to give her back I had paid for. I cant believe that AKC would allow this women to continue to have privilages to show and breed. A convicted felone does nothing for the sport of purebred dogs.
MK
If AKC does not take action against Hedlund, fierce show ring competitors can and will see an opportunity to exclude the competition by stealing and spaying/neutering it. Inaction is an affront to the sport of purebred dogs.
I believe if the AKC does not suspend this person, the AKC is then saying to everybody that it is ok to steal and alter animals. Is this really the image the AKC wants to portray? I would suspend this woman's privilages for life.
Committing felonies without punishment? It will continue until there IS action taken against people like this without morals and ethics. Suspende her already!!!
If ever there was a case begging for AKK involvement and suspension, this is it!!! Who says she won't do it again!! IMO, 2 yrs is not long enough!!!
A convicted FELON still has the "right" to show in AKC events? Absurd! AKC - you must take action to protect the rights of all who exhibit in AKC events!
What the heck were you thinking AKC? How can you NOT do something with regards to this horrible person? How would you like it if it were done to one of your dogs? I guess that is one way to eliminate the competition! It takes all kinds!!!
