There are schools all across the globe with environmetal issues that concern childrens health. Those schools are closed down and worked on to ensure that they are safe for kids to go to school in. One school in particular has bothered me the most; Hamden Middle School. My eldest sister, me, went to school there, my youngest sister does now. As previous students in this school we have become aware of certain health issues this school has. The school was built atop a landfill created by _. And because of this landfill there are long-term teachers that have died and are dying because of prolonged exposure to the chemicals underneath the school. Methane has been found underneath the boiler room floor of the school. Methane is not toxic to the body. However, if enough methane builds up in an enclosed space with enough oxygen, it can produce an explosion if an ignition source is introduced. A methane detector with a 24-hour alarm has been installed in the boiler room. If even a very low level of methane migrates from underneath the floor into the air of the boiler room, the alarm will sound, giving people in the building enough time to leave the building before it blows up. Now aside from methane my sister was informed that there is asbestos in the ceiling tiles of the school. asbestos is a very harmful and toxic substance and my sister and her firends whomi have known since befor they could walk are i nthat school everyday. i love my sister and her friends and all of the teachers there. DONT LET THEM DIE! I dont know about you but i surely dont want to have the teachers that taught me valuable information die because the town is being careless and not moving the teachers and students to a differnt location.
