Recently, I applied to the undergraduate admissions of USF and was

told that I needed to take the SAT and/or ACT to be accepted. The

reason given to me was that even with my 3.0 GPA only 18 out of

about 70 credits from the classes I attended while serving the Military

and stationed in Iraq are transferable credit hours to USF. I just don't

understand why I have been denied admission, I am going to be a

disabled veteran of at least 70 percent disabled from wounds that I

have substained while in combat. I have been in contact with Joni

Hanson from Congressman Vern Buchanan's office to help with this

issue. Unfortunately she sent this inquire to the OIF-OEF office in the

Bay Pines VA clinic and said that this is a state issue so she wants me

to contact my State Senator, Mike Bennett, even though congress

gave USF over 41 million dollars this year in a pork barrel project,

they can not help.

It is important that all state schools honor the military and veterans

who have served and sacrificed so much for our country. It is greatly

disturbing that so many veterans must jump through all these

obstacles to get the education they deserve.

Why should we just settle for any community college didn't we do

enough and deserve the best treatment. Please sign this petition and

help change the policy that the State Universities have for admission

for its service members. Thankyou

I support this petition. And as a pround member of the armed forces I would expect that it gets enacted by our congress men and women very soon.

I fully support this petition. Dear State Universities - please do not accept taxpayer funds and then deny or create barriers for our veterans access to education at your institution. Do the right thing.
