Goal Progress:
If don't know about the rest of you folks in Baltimore and surrounding areas but I love WQSR. I have been listing to WQSR almost my whole life. I am only 25 but I love the oldies and I loved Rouse and Company. I have been a dedicated listener for as long as I can remember. Not only did I listen to Rouse and Company but I have won many contests and participated in many WQSR events. Everything from singing Hey Jude for two hours on air, participating in the time tunnel, participating in WQSR Baltimore Survivor at the Baltimore Zoo, watching Grease with Rouse and Company at the movie theater in East Point, jumping in the freezing cold water with Rouse and Company at the Polar Bear Plunge, winning tickets to participate in Football 101 at Ravens Stadium with Kristi and Downtown Diane, traveling to see Stevie and the Satellites, watching Rouse and Company at Essex Day, and being honored with the WQSR Hometown Hero Award from Rouse and Company.
The funniest thing I can remember about Steve Rouse was when Rouse and Company use to broadcast every year from Six Flags America. I was sitting in the amphitheater at Six Flag watching the show. When Steve came up to me and asked me “How old are you” I replied with “18”. Steve thought I was only 14 or 15. However, he then pointed to this little kids bus ride sitting next to the amphitheater and said “I will give you $1.00 for every time you ride the bus”. So I did. I don’t remember how many times I went round and round on that ride, but it was so funny and embarrassing.
If I am only 25 years old and I have so many memories of WQSR I can only imagine how many memories some of you Folks have. I feel what Infinity Broadcasting did was wrong. I miss WQSR so much already. The radio will never be the same without them. So please Baltimore, please help me try to bring them back. Say no to JACK FM and yes to WQSR. Please sign this petition so we can show Infinity Broadcasting that we want WQSR.
Rouse and Company – We are fighting for you!!!!!
Please see the below news from WJZ 13.
Rouse Fired from WQSR
Station goes from Oldies to new diverse format.
May 5, 2005 7:00 pm US/Eastern
Towson, MD (WJZ) Broadcaster Steve Rouse is talking exclusively to Eyewitness News about the end of his top-rated morning show and his plans for the future.
Rouse, of WQSR's Rouse and Company crew, was fired Wednesday to make room for a new radio format called JACK-FM.
Rouse tells WJZ's Richard Sher the move came as a complete shock to him.
"It was a complete and total surprise," he says.
Rouse likens the firing to losing members of his family.
"It wasn't just a job we were leaving," he says. "It was family."
For now, Rouse says he is unsure of his plans for the future. He says he loves Baltimore and does not want to move. He would also like to remain in broadcasting.
The rest of the Rouse and Company crew, along with the rest of the on-air staff at the station, was also let go.
JACK-FM made its debut Wednesday at noon.
