I would rather watch World Cup on Univision in a language I don't understand than listen to the drivel these guys will come up with in English. Petitions are great, but boycotts are better.
because it's vital to have announcers with experience to enjoy watching the games this summer. This is a chance to show your committment to soccer fans in the U.S. ESPN.
Chuck Norris (me) would be a better commentator then anyone who is on ESPN, so I will take time off from kicking ass and saving babies from burning buildings to broadcast the World Cup if ESPN doesn't get somebody better!

I am tired of American commentators and American boradcasting companies butchering football/soccer. Until Americans commentators know how to call a game, get a reputable foreigner in the seat!
because if soccer is ever going to take hold in America, the fans need to actually learn the correct phrases and nuances of the game, and plus the avid fans out there will be crushed by these terrible announcers

because, in all due respect, I have not come across an American commentator who gets it. It's not in their blood, they say all the wrong things at all the wrong times and it drives people like us (who do understand the complexity of and have a passion for the 'beautiful game') bananas. Typical ESPN treatment of football/soccer (within the U.S. broadcasting spectrum). Derek Rae should be the commentator...period. Good thing for Setanta Sports USA or else I would rarely see a Champions League match.

I support this position because all the ESPN announcers that do any American or MLS games talk way too much about stuff they know nothing about...give me the right names and a few 'brilliants' and 'what a wonderful strikes' and I'm set.
We need real football announcers like Derek Rae, Tommy Smyth, and people who actually care about it and don't view covering football as career suicide. Oh well, there's always Pablo Ramirez and Univision.
I am all for this petition but not if it means more English announcers. Not everyone in the US supports England or sees the game through a British prism.
because it is absolutely ridiculous that you are going to have baseball commentators do games for you. Hire some expatriates who are in the broadcasting world who are knowledgeable about football!!! Give the real football fans commentators who can talk to us meaningfully.
