1Most, if not all of you, have probably heard of Xbox Live, Microsoft's popular online gaming service for its Xbox video game consoles. Most Xbox 360 games use the service nowadays in some way or another, but online multiplayer is probably the reason why people use it.
But, there's a problem, and it's mostly with the community. Since everyone's anonymous, there's usually an explicit banter between players. And, once in a while, one player will get so mad at another that they will send hate messages in either voice, text, or pictures. I think that this should be made into a punishable offense, the consequences of which could lead up to account freezing if it goes on for too long.
Also, there is the case of underage children using the service. It is stated that in order to play on Xbox Live, you must be 13 years or older. This rule has been broken too many times. In my opinion, a firmware update should be issued that makes submitting one's birth date a part of making a Gamertag and (if it isn't already) an Xbox Live account. It could ask questions like "What year did you attend 1st grade?" or "How old are you?"(which is kind of obvious), that way it can get an idea of your age. If your age does not match the minimum requirement, then you will be barred from Live until you are old enough to play.
I grow tired of the gutter talk that gets slung around in games like Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3. I grow even more tired of the children that play games that they're not old enough to understand, and trying to trash-talk more-experienced players. Xbox Live is supposed to be FUN, not a place for hate mail. Microsoft needs to be made more aware of what really goes on in an Xbox Live game.
