Abortion is a human right and can save the lives of rape victims and other people who cannot afford children. You are considered a human being when you are born so it is not murder. If abortions weren\'t legal, you\'d still have women aborting their fetuses; they do it all over the world even now. Women used to come from the States to Canada to have them done, or go to \'back alley abortionists\', who put them at a huge risk to get one. It\'s a woman\'s choice, so leave it up to her. They\'ll happen anyways, but this provides a safe way for the woman to do this. Anyone who says that people who have or perform abortions should die, should take a look at themselves in the mirror and try to say that they\'re not being hypocrites by saying that. There are some people who abuse drugs or alcohol during pregnancy, and that will mess the child up. FAS, and many other forms of mental handicap can result, giving the child no real life. Also, think of all the women who abandon their babies in dumpsters, or in garbage cans, or other places where the baby has no chance to survive; they kill a CHILD if that baby dies, abortion terminates a FETUS. There\'s a difference, and time is the main difference. Yes, eventually the fetus will become a child, but when it\'s early and in the womb, it is not a child. Keep your rosarys off our ovaries.

I believe abortion is the right of an idividual. There are situations, which I feel, it would be mentally or emotionally destructive for the woman to be required to continue the pregnancy. Rape, molestation, incest, are at the top of my list.

Jami. Well done. You're raising a child... or your parents are... who knows. But lets face the facts. It may be right for you... but not others. And dont call a baby a "consequence" . . . you had a choice to have sex . . . use protection . . . or an abortion. Rape victims dont get the 2/3 luxeries you have. So let them have a choice. Seriously.

because Mishelle and Kristen are right. Give women the right to choose. Jami, you may be a wonderful mother and im proud of you that you have pulled through... but HEY ... motherhood isnt for everyone... and it has to be at the right time. ESPECIALLY IF SOMEONE IS RAPED. im guessing you have never been raped... but could you imagine raising a child... the child of your rapist. I find that disturbing. And... once again... what happened to the "land of the free" .... is it becoming so un-free that maybe one day you wont even be able to choose what colour underwear you wear??? Cos that's where its heading. So get off your high horse and stop being so "omg... lets all be gods perfect little christians and rob people of their right to choose what happens to their bodies" .. ITS NOT UR BODY... SO FUCK OFF. toodles.

You know what? im in the same boat as my sister however... on a different level. A part of me says if i were pregnant with an unwanted child, i would abort it. But then, it is a living thing, and IT had no choice over whether it were concieved or not. So, in that perspective, i have no clue what i would do... because, people could argue "if u have a right to have sex, shouldnt a baby have a right to live?" And yes, that is all well and good... but i still believe in abortion as many people have pregnancy forced upon them, whether it be rape or just an accident. So, yes, i am quite open. I find 'A+ Abortions" argument specious though. How dare you make an assumption Jami will kill her baby, that is utterly stupid and extremely mallicious. Just because someone might be a bit younger than you and disagrees with you, does not mean their opinion is in any way invalid or gives you the right to assume such horrible things. I am only 14 years old, but i do know one thing... abortion is a very touchy subject for all people and in the end, i think it comes down to the opinion of the person who is actually pregnant or whom has experienced a pregnancy. Whatever they decide for their own body is their buisness and their personal CHOICE!!

I support this petition.I think that they should keep abortion legal, because if for one if they don't then women will start doing what they did back in the 60's ended up on someone's table using a hanger and pliers.So the best thing for bush to do is keep it legal because it will avoid people killing themselves.

i'm 16 and i have a 10 month old son. i completly disagree with abortion. if you have sex... you live with the consequences. if you were raped or might suffer heath problems... it doesn't justify the fact that you're KILLING AN INNOCENT BABY. i understand the theory people have that abortion should be okay for rape victims or woman with health problems but the law wouldn't settle with abortion only being legal for those people, and like i said i don't agree with it on any level. sorry.

Mishelle is right. At the end of the day, having an abortion would have to be one of the most emotionally traumatic things I can imagine. I think it would crush me if I ever had to make that decision. The point is, that if a person isn't ready to raise a child, they shouldn't be forced to. I know that adoption is a choice, but the emotional disturbance that comes with giving up a child that has been carried to full term is extremely detrimental.
