July 26th, 2007We the undersigned would like to let Linden Labs know of our extreme displeasure with the new policy regarding wagering in Second Life. We feel that the decision was not only rash, but far too harsh. We also want to express our total disappointment in Linden Labs for not approaching the situation with more diplomacy. Your lack of regard for the many people who have invested real world currency in Casinos and Casino products is appalling. We believe that any new policies directly affecting the livelihood of our fellow residence should be eased in over time, and that appropriate compensation should be made in the event of major loses. Direct financial losses are not the only concerns. The effect of this new policy will reach farther than you may have anticipated. It is very apparent to us that every resident will be affected by this in some way. Please don’t equate your company with every other new millennium corporate theft machine. We are not about to except this unfair treatment; your blanket remedy amounts to no more than theft. We hereby request that you, Linden Labs, establish a compensation program immediately to help with the devastation that many are facing. At the very least we demand that you hold a public meeting to address these issues and hear the voice of your “valued” residents. Together a solution can be reached. We used to take pride in being SL residents. Now we are trying to find a reason to stay. You can give us that reason. We will not stop the fight Until things have been set right! Sincerely, The Undersigned
