Healthy, happy, well behaved dogs need off leash exercise. They need to work off all the pent up energy they have after being in an apartment all day long.
Off leash exercise creates happy content dogs.
The off-leash policy at designated hours is effective, beneficial, and a responsible measure for the public and dogs in the city's parks. I am in favor of strengthening this policy further with clearly stated regulations.
It's healthy and necessary for animals to run freely. Obviously this is not appropriate for the City, but supervised
hours is a good solution and one I endorse.
Dogs should have the right to walk and run in the park or beach off the leash, just like ducks and pigeons - owners should be responsible for their pet’s behavior.
I am not a dog owner, yet I support this petition. I believe dogs in New York need this limited freedom in order to enjoy a reasonable quality of life here.
I believe dog parks are extremely valuable to the community. They provide a presence in parks at off-hours, helping prevent crime. It is also a place where neighbors gather, which is rather rare in this city. And they provide exercise for animals and their human companions.
Let the dogs run free! It is their sole activity in the City that allows them to enjoy their canine nature, as swimming, hunting, digging and retrieving are all forbidden activities.
It is essential for our canine friends to have some freedom in their lives, and this means the run of the parks, off-leash, at certain times of the day/night.

Dogs are one of the important parts of this City that make it habitable for thousands of people. For some people, the walk in the Park in the morning is their only exercise and social hour. Please don't take this away.
