For many thousands of New Yorkers, the companionship of their dog is paramount in their life. The excercise afforded, not only the dog, but the owner as well, is certainly in keeping with the healthy lifestyle that has been promoted and supported by Mayor Bloomberg and Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden. Please formalize and strengthen the off leash hours that so many New Yorkers and their owners cherish!!
I urge you to allow responsible off-leash laws for the health of NYC's pets! While young dog owners can run fast with their dogs, those of us who are getting older cannot. Dogs are great companions for the elderly, but they need exercise that not all the elderly can give them if they must be leashed at all times.
Thanks for your attention to this.

Nothing is more important than the relationship between all living beings--people, animals and plants.
In addition, I would like to suggest that NYC consider that all unspayed and un-neutered dogs have a substantial annual licensing fee (ie. $8.00 for neutered/spayed animals vs. $125.00 or more for all unneutered or unspayed dogs--INCLUDING show dogs. Thank you very much.
this time off the leash is priceless for our beloved dogs and for all their great owners.i respect people who may not feel the same way about dogs as we do but to give us this time off leash in certain areas of our city parks makes it better for both groups.our pets will be able to get the exercise they need in a controlled area during specific time periods.thank you
Responsible pet owners should not be penalized for the irresponsible owners. It is unfair to place petowners at risk by confinig off leash priveldges to the unrealistic timeframe in place now!
I live just outside NYC, but travel to Central Park just because I love the off-leash hours. Please keep this wonderful system that brings so much joy to dogs and their owners, without inconveniencing others who dislike dogs by enforcing leash laws during the remaining and more convenient 12-hours.
I support this amendment. Not only are we promoting responsible pet ownership but we are also taking an active interest in our communities and their well-being. Respecting and protecting our communities and parks, and making them better for all residents, is everyone's responsibility.
Off=leash hours are an important part of life for thousands of dog owners who like are residents of NYC and who like to visit NYC Parks with their dogs. Because of a few isolated incidents involving a handful of irresponsible dog owners, off-leash hours should not be taken away from the thousands of people who are responsible and respectful dog owners who are appreciative of the parks being available to exercise their pets.
I support this. My dog responsibly enjoys Central Park before 9am and it leads to better well being for him and more control over him the rest of the day.
Only consider that a well exercised dog is a good and quiet neighbor. Since we all live in very close proximity to each other, this is essential to a peacefull coexistence with one's neighbors.
A well-exercised dog is easier to train and a better, happier companion. Off-leash hours allow dogs to get the exercise they need and improve the lives of dogs, dog owners and all who share the parks and streets of NYC with dogs.
