My German Shepherd is the center of my life. Unfortunately he's the biggest wuss. I can't take him to our local dog park because he's too afraid of unruly dogs. If we couldn't enjoy the east river park in the mornings (and late summer evenings) he'd have no life. We can play fetch there, thank god. Because I'm too old to run him as much as he'd needs.
Thank you to all involved. I could not stay in this city with my two small dogs if I was forced underground every time I wanted to toss a ball for them at the park. They look so forward to our morning walks to the park. Unfortunatley we do not have an local dog run -- but I'm working on it.
Dog people are the most committed park users, they are out there every day, in every weather, and in the dark too. Please keep our parks safe for EVERYONE
A dog is like a child as it needs to be nurtured and loved and needs the opportunity to be exercised and socialized to be a well balanced member of society.
The off leash hours allow for much needed socialization and exercise for NYC dogs. This precious time helps our dogs to be well adjusted members of our city and our lives. The effects are civilizing on the dog owners as well. It is a beautiful time for dog and person to enjoy the city parks and to get to know each other, it is of great socialogical value to caninine and human.
My dog and I enjoy Central Park three or four times a day and it's an incredible group of dogs and responsible dog people. Let's formalize the rules and we can all coexist happily.
im in the park 3-4 times a day with my dog. having responsible dog owners using the park to excercise their dogs make the owners and dogs life healthier as well as promotiong community and a safer park.
Dog owners and non-owners alike will benefit from making the off-leash rules official. Please ensure that our mutual safety and wellbeing are continued by making the park available to us during the limited off-leash hours.
this is an important and healthly way of life for dogs and their owners. it seems perfectly reasonable to share the park with non dog owners during the limited off-leash hours.
Simple, clearly stated rules will allow all to share our wonderful parks. Please make sure dogs and their owners are not excluded from the use of these resources so essential to our collective wellbeing.
Clear, fair rules, fairly enforced help people share our parks. The de facto rules in Prospect Park are reasonable, and do not lead to conflict. It's time to put them on the books so everyone understands what they are.
