It would be the worst thing possible for dogs not to be able to get the daily excercise they all need by not allowing them off-leash during the appointed hours.
We are regular users of the early morning off-leash access. It is amazing to watch so many dogs and owners play and enjoy themselves. There aren't anyone else in the park at these hours. Our local coffee shop owner supports us. He says we're a boost to the local economy.
I own three wonderful dogs. They love going to Prospect Park and the dog beach to visit and play with their friends. It's a great way for the canines as well as their masters to socialize. There should be more dog friendly parks program to encourage responsible ownership. Don't drive dog owners underground.
We support this petition because there are so few places for our dogs to go off leash. They are well trained and look forward to unrestrained exercise. The reason we purchased our home on CPWest is to have access to the Park for our dogs. Let's not change that. I believe we are a community of tolerance -- not one willing to cave to the strident few.
I recently moved to the city and was shocked to learn that one of the few times of the day that allow dogs off leash may end soon. I believe dogs need a place to play with other dogs, and walking on a leash is simply pathetic. A city this size with so many parks can accommodate dog owners for a few measley hours in the morning and late at night.
As a dog owner i want to be able to take my dogs out and participate in recreational activities with them. I want there to be spaces for me and my animals.
Dogs are an fundamental part of our families and community. Being off leash and able to run and socialize with other dogs is so vital to my dogs healthy disposition.
Animals get behavior problems if they are not properly exercised. If we continue to limit where dogs can run, there will be more behavior problems surfacing because the animal has no outlet for its energy--much like children. Please give our pets a place to practice being good canine citizens.
Providing adequate off-leash exercise areas for dogs encourages dog owners to act responsibly. Dogs need places to socialize and run free with other dogs. Many a dog owner would break the leash law if there were not courtesy hours when dogs could be in Central Park
It's like a big misconception that dogs make a mess of places they are allowed to go. There a few dogs in the park where I go and we sure to clean up after them.
In a city where so many residents do not have yard space there is a strong need for off-leash hours where tax-paying dog owners can share in a game of fetch with their dog.
