I not only support it I beleive it is our right to have access to excerise our dogs off leash in the parks during the hours that most new yorkers are not even out of bed!
Getting rid of offleash hours would result in a lot of frustrated/hyper/aggressi ve dogs--this could result in inconvenience and danger to everyone in New York City. Think twice before banning this!
There exists the potential for untrained dogs to cause problems while off the leash. With that said, the same problems exists with humans and we don't keep all people on the leash at all times.
Dogs need the exercise and freedom the same way we have children (bad, misbehaving children) running around in the park why can't dog owners and their dogs have the freedom to enjoy the free air and space that we as New Yorkers do not have in our homes unlike others in the country that have backyards and space in their homes for their furry children to run around. Its safer for all and healthier.
As one of the many people who have gotten and beaten tickets for off leash dogs, I support the amendment. Also, when the parks department ticketed me for my "transgression" they threatened to take away my dog...and I had to contact the police to protect me!
