I don't even have a dog and I support off leash hours! It's wonderful to let the animals run around and play. I can't believe anyone would oppose such a thing.
Off-leash hours heighten public safety and statistically a drop in crime has been reflected in parks throughout the boroughs during off-leash hours. I support this amendment. I hope we dog owners will have a say in deciding the "When" and the "Where" part of this amendment.
The off leash policy before 9 am in Prospect Park is one of the things that makes NYC great. The harmony of the dogs and their owners is such a rare and wonderful way to start each day.
In my professional opinion as a dog trainer, dogs need time to run and socialize in order to retain stable personalities. More behavior problems may result from lack of interaction than from park restrictions.
The best hour of the day for myself, my dog & all our human & canine friends is our off leash time early in the morning in Central Park. This policy promote health and community among people & dogs.
please do not limit man's best friends from having a decent quality of life in our fair city.the dog owners who care enough to exercise their animals and encourage their healthy play, are, for the most part, far too responsible to allow their pets to engage in dangerous activity of any sort.
