If people are willing to get up early so their dog can have a little running freedom, they should be allowed! I don't even own a dog; but growing up in NYC I loved going to the park and playing with all the dogs and seeing the run.
Animals have rights too. We as humans have to be their voices because they cannot speak for themselves therefore it is imperative that this petition be taken seriously to protect the innocent and address the comfortable living needs of our beloved pets.
It is important to give animals the opportunity to exercise off-leash. Most dogs love to socialize and it is unjust to penalize the many, just because a few dogs may be aggressive. Those owners should be asked to not let their dogs participate.
We can only be socially morally support the nature and city lives with correct human behavior. Off leash is the essence to homonizing true New York City urban living and promo responsible New Yorker with any regulations and respect tranditions such as to enforce OFF-Leash Policy we respect and enjoy
Dog owners tend to pick up trash to prevent ingestion by their dogs and keep parks safe with increased odd hour usage. All taxpayers are entitled to use of parkd - having set hours for specific groups helps make a multi-use park functional and its users happy by allowing people who prefer not to be around dogs to use the regular day time hours while dog owners use the few hours designated here.
I emphatically support this petition. I believe that I and my dog are entitled to some quality park time each and every day. It is a matter of our physical and psycological good health.
It really should be as simple as- if you don't like dogs off the leash come to the park at a different time or go to a different location. Its a big park with plenty of space for everyone.
My dogs love their off-leash time; without it they would suffer. Hardly anyone BUT dog owners are in the part before 9am, so I'm not sure I understand how this new restriction would solve anyone's issues - instead it would only hurt dogs and their owners. On another note, many people purchase properties close to parks for dog access - it could also work to hurt property values.
OOfleash hours are important to both the dog and the owner . The dog gets the chance ot exercise and socialize as well as the owner. Man domesticated the dog now man must continue to support and provide adequate care, play etc. for man's best friend.
I think allowing dogs off leash in the park is essential. I do not own a dog, but I think dog parks add to the feeling of community in NY. I have never been bothered by dogs off leash in the park. On the contrary, it brightens my day to see such happy animals enjoying themselves.
My dog is happy because he gets adequate excercize and because he is socialized. Both of these points are made possible by offleash hours. I think you for this priveledge, and ask that it remain and be codified.
Daily morning excercise in an open space such as beautiful Central Park is healthy and sound for both me a my dog. We use the park every morning rain, snow or shine and it is the best part of my day to see him explore, socialize and romp with other dogs.
My standard poodle is obdience trained and is also a certified therapy dog.
She requires at least thirty minutes of vigorous exercise every day. We chase balls on a pathway in Riverside Park between 92nd and 96th streets every morning sometime between 7 and 9 am. We are careful to sit/stay when runners and bikers pass.
Please permit such off leash activities for she has become seriously ill twice by ingesting the foul mud in the 87th street dog run which gets onto balls and sticks.
People obedience training dogs also need to practice heeling and recall off leash. This cannot be accomplished in dog runs with dozens of dogs. Ours is often over run by dog walking services who bring as many as 12 dogs at a time.
Thank you for your consideration of these matters.
