The exercise that dogs get by playing off leash makes them better, more stable, good canine citizens. The responsibilty dog owners feel who use the off leash time help keep the parks safe and clean for all to use.
One of the nicest things about living in Brooklyn is being able to watch the dogs run free early in the morning. So great for kids to be able to witness animals in a more "natural state."
dogs are much more normalized when they are allowed to run, sniff, jump, and do their thing. protecting off leash laws is helping control the animal agression that stems from poorly trained or pent up dogs all over the city
As long as our city allows us, their human companions, to care for dogs within the city limits, then sharing the parks should only be a natural inclusion.
They're healthy for dogs and owners, safe for the general public, cost
the city nothing....

Off-leash hours in New York City's parks contributes to the well being of my Bernese Mountain Dog, by giving her the chance to socialize with a large number of dogs in an unconfined environment and gives her the chance to run faster than her master ever could.
Off-leash hours are critically important to keeping NYC's dogs well-exercized, well-socialized, and better behaved. Having the laws codified will make dog owners and park users more aware of their rights and responsibilities. We are all for responsible stewardship.
Dogs to exercise and socialize off-leash. We handlers must always pick up and self-police, and not allow any dog to get rough w/another or bully another... a well exercised, socialized dog is a great thing for everyone!! Let the dogs run free!
Off-leash hours are a wonderful time for people and pets to socialize with our fellow New Yorkers. Please strengthen the current policy so it can be enjoyed for years to come!
Pets are an important support system for many new yorkers who already feel that the city is a tough place to live. We need places that we can go outside our often small apartments.
Please keep dog aggression down and quality of life and safety of the parks up. Let responsible dog owners have these few hours with our dogs on a daily basis. It is imperative to keeping New York City a livable humance place.
Please follow the will of the people and the courts and leave us to be with our dogs in the park for these precious hours. It is essential to the quality of life in New York AND we keep the park safe for others. Please just let us continue to enjoy life in NYC with our dogs. Thank you.
We moved to NYC from Phila. and one of the reasons that it works for us is being able to walk our dogs off leash in Centeral Park. We as an animal loving community need to walk our dogs and let them run and play. It is better for their health and for ours. Mine get me out in the AM and PM to exercise. Also in the 2 years that i have been here i have met some terrific dog people that love the city, respect the park and love their animals...What more could NYC ask for?
Dogs that are socialized with other dogs make better pets and canine citizens. Being permitted to exercise in the park allows them to be calmer and friendlier with other people and their dogs.
One of the great things about New York that makes us almost as civilized as the Europeans is that we allow our dogs off leash.
Please allow this to continue, in fact if you go to the park in the early morning ninety nine percent of the people are there with dogs making the park much safer.
I have never seen a problem in the 20 years that I have been in NYC and hope that you will continue to allow people like me with dogs to go and have the freedom to play
why is so much space and money given to kids playgrounds and ball parks. I pay taxes for that and thier education. I have no kids...I have dogs. We need off leash dog parks for us and our dogs to have fun and meet friends.
