We owe this not only to the dog owners, who are an important NYC Parks constituency, but to all NYC Park users don't want their safe use of the OUR parks legislated or out of existence.
Why is it that there are NO dog runs within Central Park?? There are over 800 acres of land that make up the park. I'm certain that there are many areas that are not generally used by the public - not talking about taking part of the Great Lawn here. Seems to me that ONE acre out of EIGHT HUNDRED PLUS could be converted to a dog run.
Dog owners in my home park (Prospect Park) form a responsible and self-policing community. Please allow us and our dogs to continue to enjoy off-leash hours in a manner that benefits pet people while respecting the rights of non-pet people. Thank you.
This is important for the parks bringing more people into the parks, as well as the dogs and their owners. Please adopt these responsible amendments for responsible owners.
