The world was not always this way. There once was clean air, and trees everywhere. Animals, roaming around wild, in their own world; but now, the air and water is polluted, animals killed and forests are being cut down, all because of us.
Pollution is killing the animals. Animals are drinking the polluted water and breathing the dirty air. Squirrels, chipmunks, and other small creatures are getting stuck very easily in empty soda can rings. Oil spills kill animals, and damage their environment.
Pollution is not the only way we are harming the environment, also poaching, illegal hunting, and whaling are making matters worse. In Africa, elephants are killed for their tusks, and snakes and alligators for their skin. Also, many animals in the cat family are being killed for their fur. The major reasons for the Javan Rhino decline are hunting for its horn, which is valued highly for use in oriental medicine, and habitat loss due to clearing of lowland forest.
Rainforests are being cut down each to make room for us, which ruins thousands of habitats for all different kinds of animals. Birds, tigers, insects, lizards, snakes, frogs and more are left homeless. We are always building houses, malls, airports, gas stations, and offices. In doing so, we ruin animal homes.
Some may say, “I hate rodents, they run my yard!” I say in reply, “We ruined theirs first, this all was originally the animals’.” The world used to be a better place, before we thought ourselves better than all other living creatures on this earth. They deserve to live. If you agree, write a letter to the government asking them to pass laws to protect our animals, our environment, our selves.

Sure, there are some hybrid cars and wildlife conservations, but is it enough? NO. More needs to be done, and now, if we ever hope to see an improvement in the health of this planet, because one day we will be like Venus, a planet with no life and an atmosphere of carbon dioxide. Our descendants will be forced to make colonies on Mars, and they will look back at the barren planet called Earth, and try to imagine if there was a time that it was filled with life, and wonder how the human race could destroy something that gave them life!
