For me..I like some anime, but I've grown very bored from it lately. I've been into anime since around 1973. (Remember KIMBA and SPEED RACER when it first hit the American airwaves?) But I wasn't the norm since most American folks back then thought any type of Japanese entertainment was guys in rubber costumes squashing minature Tokyos. I liked the early stuff best..like the original MACROSS, ORGUS, the first Dirty Pair shows, and stuff like Crusher Joe, Mospeda, Space Cobra..to name a few. The early 80's was the best time for anime for me...but when you're a young man, new things will always capture the imagination.
I guess I'm way too jaded now to enjoy the current anime. I'll leave it up to the young folks to take the torch and run with it.
Most of the people who have left comments here seem like fags, both for and against anime. Personally I don't like most anime. But older mech anime like robotech: the macross saga I like. Actually that is the only one i like. Anime is gay.

Anime sucks. It is overrated, backed by hordes of pretentious nerds, and often sexually perverted. It is also better than it's Western equivalents (that is, cartoons with a primarily adult audience such as South Park, which in my thinking ranks just above excrement in terms of artistic and comedic value). Putting aside plot, which series seems to embody 'fine art' better? Dragonball Z or Invader Zim? The DBZ characters look like they've been dipped in steroids then set on fire. Pretty bad artwork, eh? But Invader Zim's characters change shape every other frame, and their arms and legs are effectively stick animation. Japanimation sucks, but your precious Western animation SUUUUUCCCKSSS.

Otakus waste a great deal of time learning customs and conventions they will never use, such as elements of the Japanese language and Oriental traditions (most will never step foot in the Eastern hemisphere).
