I understand the need to label is apart of the American Teen thing. However, there is a point at which it reaches its all time high. I mean, people who express themselves are now being classified into categories, which is opposite of what they invisioned in the first place! Wouldn't you rather be known for who you are as a person, then your label.

"Oh, she's emo. She is so sad."
"OMGSH, he is punk... look at those pants!"
"EWW, a prep. Omg, i hear the cheer squad now"

There is more than life to a label....

Label me an anti-labelist. Labels are so lamo 'n stuff. I totally threw the labelmaker I got for XMAS in the trash, and then I ridiculed it for being part of "the system".

you know what? labeling is for soup cans! and FYI, Morgan, I DON'T LABEL PEOPLE, it's gay and wrong.it pisses me off so much when someone tells me what I am, because they don't know who I am, I can only define myself. I've been called emo before and you know what I say? Go search on the internet for what emo means. It's short for emotional. Dumbasses. Don't let anyone define you. You know who you are. You be who you want to be, you do what you want to do. Fuck what other people say about you. But I still believe labeling is wrong, but the fact is there are some down right mean people in this world, and it's just never going to end.

To Morgan: That's really true, but what we mean in this case of labels is "punk," "emo," "prep," etc. What's the point in labeling somebody? Really? Does labelling someone make YOU feel better? I'm not going to get started either cause this could end up to be a VERY long post. I admit, I have labelled people before, but that was the past, now, the way I label people? I don't, I just don't see it happening, I haven't labelled anyone in...over a year

I disagree totally with "Huge Deck". Not everyone likes to have a label placed, even if they are emo. I am a lil bit of everything, and cant be stereotyped. Yet, is still get crticized, for being a prep, or punk, or skater. I shouldnt have to decide which one. Why cant i just be myslef!
