I'm not even using aol and it has taken over my home page. They have NO RIGHT to pull that crap. They need to go under. I don't know if the FTC has any influence but as much as I hate more government, someone needs to stop these big and small companies from invading your privacy!
AOL are cunts. Never, ever put one of their free month CDs near your computer. The thing installs itself in exactly the same way as a virus, spreading it's component parts across your system, making it virtually impossible to remove without specialist software, which AOL really don't approve of, natch. And that Connie woman used to live downstairs from one of my mates, she's into speed and bumsex.
I support this petition & I know how to screw AOL! Sign up for their "Free Month," and before the month is over, make sure to violate their terms of service -- i.e., Get TOS'd until they can you. It's the only way they let you cancel your service, anyway, might as well take advantage of those dicks.

New aol scam: allow "members" to sign up for limited hours billing & create up to 7 screennames. When we try to access email for diff. email @ aolmail.com on the web, it sets browser to remember the 1st s/n that signs on, and refuses to *forget* that s/n so the others can sign on. "Help" [yeah right, my ass] says solve that problem by clearning cache/cookies/history -- #1 that's b.s. Some of us need to reference our browser history for diff. reasons (job, school research, parents who want to monitor kids, whatever). Fuck aol's paternalism - their solution for EVERYTHING is "Clear your cache." #2 it doesn't fucking WORK -- I cleared EVERYTHING, but aol won't forget the 1st s/n on my acc't that signed in. Now I'm hearing how fucking hard it is to cancel. They don't care if they lose customers to cancellations -- IT'S HOTEL CALIFORNIA! Nobody can get out! The only way out is to cancel your credit card -- and even then, aol takes you to collections. They don't make any money off "members" -- they make it all off their ads. I support this petition. 1999, Mom X'd her acc't before she was billed b/c aol didn't work on her old puter; she didn't notice they kept billing her bank acc't b/c aol used a similar *payee #* as her cancer insurance. Just happened Dad's heart attack was right before her cancer ins. co. notified her they would stop deducting from her bank and would bill entire year "12mos from now". Cancer ins. payee # was similar to aol's, identical 1st letters and #s. 1yr later, ins. bill came, Mom called to say they had deducted from her acc't., then had to call the bank to find out who "Payee #XXX" was -- aol, of course, even tho she had cancelled that acc't within 1 wk of creating it, and they refused to refund her $240, so 10yrs of premiums for cancer ins. went down the drain, b/c Mom couldn't come up w/ her yearly bill. She works in high-risk industry & family history of cancer. If she gets cancer, I guess the taxpayers will have to pay for her treatment, but fucking aol assholes find taxholes

I have used aol for 11 years, first on my fathers account then on my own account. Aol have to be the worst service provider ever. I am tired of needing new modems cause the old ones burn out, I am tired of being put thru to india to "kate" or "Dave" who barely speak english and only say sorry and never give a satisfactory service or the advice you need, I am tired of trying to use the "on-line" help to then have to make a phone call cause the online guy knows less than me, I am tired of being reported for stupid things like x's in a chat room or saying words like "hiney" I am sick to death of some people getting away with using foul language in chat rooms and verbally abusing others and aol doing nothing about it. No company or entity should install any form of software onto any network or computer without consent. I have on a number of occasions with software tracking tools witnessed installation of ad bots, tracking scripts, external programs and more. On two occasions crashing my computer. I subscribed to a free 90 day trial and cancelled this 22 days later.
In october I get a bill saying they are threatening collections. I told them I already cancelled this 5 months ago.
Then I just got another bill from collections in December for the service they say I am using, so I asked for proof and I have none yet.
Want to know if anyone knows of class action suit against AOL for there scam.
