If you get this I will be surprised. I have been on line for 1hr which is less time than I usually spend to get on line. Since aol has raise their rates I spend HOURS trying to get on line and then finally I have to give up. I HOPE AOL READS THIS UNLIMITED BILLING FOR WHAT? because AOL is the stupidist thing i have every done in my entire life. you pay £27.99 a month for 2mb broadband - downloads never go faster than 200kb/sec that slut says "goodbye" and signs you off every 10 minutes. You try to cancel by email they tell you to go to live help live help tells you to phone customer services. I once was dumb enough to sign up for an aol account. This was way back in 95. After a couple of years I switched to Netzero's free internet service (which actually was free at the time). I cancelled/closed my Aol account and they stopped charging my bank account, for about three months, then began charging me again. I did not notice this for almost a year, when while going through bank statements I noticed I had been being charged.
So I called Aol' accounts dept. They told me that their computer showed I had cancelled the following year. I asked why I was continuing to be charged. They replied they could not answer my question, and that I would need to call customer support. I called customer support and they told me I would need to call accounts dept. So I next called the fraud Dept. When calling accounts dept. and customer service dept. I would wait on hold for 25-35 minutes before getting through. The fraud dept. had me on hold for over an hour before finally getting through. (Aol's busiest dept?)
Fraud told me that there "policy" states that I could only be credited back for 6 months.
I asked that my name and info be purged from their records, and they said this was impossible due too tax purposes.
The real clincher is when I have gone around telling people how Aol ripped me off, and a large percentage of people responded, "They did the same thing (or something similar) to me."
Aol is a company that operates on fraudulent activities. They also gather personal info on their customers which they then sell or share with other companies.
I am now a computer repair tech and am always warning people not to do business with Aol., more than half take my advice. I have managed to get a number of people to close their Aol accounts.

AOL is the biggest pile of crap to ever be conceived. Their servers frequently crash for up to 48hours, their software is sluggish and slow even on a high spec PC, Their tech support is crap, even on broadband the download speed is atrocious and they have isolated their market so you can only use their own overly expensive WLAN hardware.
I frequently disconnects and takes too long for it to refresh the connection status causing all the other programs using the connection to mess up. All in all - AOL sucks

AOL is piss poor. mainly because of the constant connection problems, constant re-installations and the fact that the "spyzapper" and other safety programs that come with it are as safe as a jonny with holes, but also because whatever you are doing online, when you get disconnected it is lost, when ie would keep its browser open. this is fucking annoying when you are doing online uni assesments or research. i seriously contemplate buring my pc into a pile of plastic, shitting on it and sending it to aol to feast on at christmas. 1

As a computer technician, I have determined that America On Line is one of the lagest and most well- rounded pieces of shit you can put your money into. The antispyware and antivirus protection is hardly that. I clean "protected" computers everyday. I tried to resolve a problem for a client by calling their tech support, as soon as I politely announced that I'm a technician, they promptly hung up the phone. What kind of company that's so user friendly, wont even help a technician that knows what they're doing to allow access to AOL. My suggestion, AOL trial cd's are great for skeet practice, or if you wish to see the effects of a cd in a microwave.

I admit i am an AOL customer I HATE the crap software they try and make you install. Well I have found a solution you can connect to AOL without installing that pc crashing pile of shit they call AOL 9.0. All you have to do is create a new connections wizard in windows and when it asks you to enter your user name you just have to enter @aol.com at the end , then your usual AOL password then you are logged on without the use of AOL 9.0.
My connection works perfectly now I havent been disconnected in ages infact I cant remember the last time I was disconnected scince it was that long ago. Its AOL 9.0 that fucks you up damn you AOL for making it I HATE you for that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I support this petition, after gaving first-hand experience selling AOL via retail outlets in the UK, and find out how bad they really are. Move to Canada, we're AOL free here :) AOL ae, and always will be a scam based company, that entice those who know no better to join, and are then stuck with them for life. The tech supports for AOL, most of which are in India have better english vocabulary than any of you. Ok, so their accents are a little difficult to understand - do you even know how little they get paid? It's the reason AOL is getting millions, by recruiting their over-qualified staff from overseas, paying them next to nothing and then charging it's customers too much and squeezing our bandwidth all the time. Did you know that AOL has a keystroke logger that sends everything we (I) type to their systems, is logged? And that attempt of removal of this results in AOL failing to work? I have had a nightmare with the customer service, especially since they made the previous free number chargable, but whether its a British girl from London, or a Asian guy from India, the training this people get is inadequate. And with less than minimum wage - who is gonna get you through your aol problems in a quick and efficient manner?
