While the regulations you advocate are on the books, they are neither observed by the public, nor enforced by the officials. I sincerely hope that this petition will move the Armenian authorities into action.
I am deeply sorry for the loss, We certainly need a fundamental change of "Driving Culture" in our country. During our 2 week stay in Yerevan, we heard the heart aching news about Araz, and we got into a car accident ourselves because of a wreckless and drunk driver.
This petition is something that Arazik would have initiated if the tragedy had happened to any one of use...She was an active campaigner in what she believed in and I am sure she would have wanted us to do this on her behalf....
Two girls were almost hit by a "Niva" on Abovyan-Tumanyan crossroad yesterday because the car was driving not only fast, but also did not care about the red light. The saddest thing is that police don't care much and don't do anything to punish perpetrators!!!
This is horrible - I just have no words. The mentality of drivers and the police is simply beyond my comprehension.
The traffic really became terrible, everyone passing street is potential victim. Police is not allowed to stop cars with "special" numbers. Other drivers are trying to drive the same way, to look tough also. This problem should be solved on the level of government, parliament and president. There is no need to drive like crazy on narrow not properly marked streets to reach the destination point just 15 seconds faster.
