For Nguyen
father o father i wanna confess
i know i went in and made a big mess
i was desperate, my family sick
i needed some money for 'em to eat
i went over there, i knew the risk
i wanted a cure and not the piss
i had mouths to feed, the bills overdue
i never wanted to become someone’s stew
when i was hungry, no one cared
when i asked for some time, i got stares
when i was down and almost out
all i got was ‘move your house.’
father o father i know i was wrong
i did not mean to end up writing this song
now i am going and leaving them behind
i did 'em wrong but killing isn't kind
father o father my heart is a bleeding
i have kept mum so long but no longer am I needed
they have taken all they want away
and now they send me to your house to pray
remember me for tomorrow at dawn
at your house i will be making a call
i will be coming in from the cold
set the fire please, i'll tell you about the world.
no life have i taken, no one is dead
to put food at home, they now want my head
yes my o father i made a mistake
i'll do my time but not at the stake
i know you are listening but why the silence
haven't we sufferd enough with the violence
i am begging you please, don't mess with our lifes
if its strife you wanna see, then just look at my life
"Barbaric". What goes around comes around. I hope the people who are in charge of rejecting the appeals will get bad luck the rest of their lives. the offense does not deserve the death pen. especially if the guys 25 years old! Thats as old as the prime ministers son. Not every one is luckily to be educated and nguyen just made a mistake young people make that doesnt deserve death..
I am deeply saddened to hear of Van's pending execution. Please convey my disgust of the Singaporean government's attitude to this man who had no intention of trafficking in Singapore and who co-operated fully with authorities. The death penalty is an atrocious form of sentencing and has no place in any modern society. I also don't understand how international law allows for sentencing of crimes in a transit country unless the criminal in question is using the transit country as a drop point.
If drug trafficking laws are about prevention then Van ought to have been given the opportunity to face the charges in Australia at the very least or ditch the drugs in Singapores transit lounge - he was in transit and his crime had been committed before even crossing the Vietnam border and would be committed when he entered Australia. He also broke international air travel laws when he carried the drugs on the plane. Indeed he may have conspired to commit the crime even before he left Australia. Many people have a greater claim to try Van than did the Singapore authorities. Why must the harshest of the possible penalties apply in cases like these when so many other confessed and sometimes unremorseful criminals go free in exchange for information of dubious value to wider society however useful to police forces and politicians.
Please save the life of this young man. He has made a serious mistake but to punish him with death is without compassion. If God can forgive him then why ccan't the Singapore Government. God bless you Van.
No individual, group or government has the right to give or take life. This is murder by any definition. Our thoughts are prayers are with Nguyen Tuong Van
I am a doctor by profession and what I have been taught is life is the most preciious thing in the world and one more thing r we giving him punishement for his deed then we should punish him but not by exceuting coz once u excute someone when we r giving that person chance to improve himself and know what he hewa s doing was absolutely wrong.
I just pray for peace at this time for Van, it is terrible what is happening but my consolation is that the same mercy they show the same they will recieve.
I just like to say..tho deep inside i feel it wont really happen(too much of a pessimistic :oS)...if me petitioning would help...well here i am.....do hope Van lifes could be spared..and after him..others too :o)...
good day
Well well, as I said in my post 1391 – Pg28 earlier – What’s this world coming too!
I see I was within my right about mentioning the gutless people I share this planet with and then there are the sadistic & negative people as I have read their posts they have written in on here.
I wonder if it was your child about to hang, I would love to read your post then, you would be begging for a chance as the mother and brother are wanting for their loved one, Nguyen.
Drug users have to be responsible for their own actions if they get caught up with a habit and I know what that is like as I had to go cold turkey with my brother to say him from a 5 year addiction 15 yrs ago and I do not hold drug dealers at fault for that as my brother should of acted more responsible.
Maybe we should hang people from the tobacco and alcohol companies and not to mention all the major companies who are stuffing up our planet with pollution etc, and without my consent in doing so. It is ok to allow these companies to sell these other drugs that kill and cause more deaths in our society but because it is legal that seems to justify and make that right, check your stats and see how many deaths from drugs there are, and how many deaths it causes to other innocent people, now go check the stats and see how many people get killed and die from other addictive legalised drugs but that’s is fine as its accepted by the majority as the Govt and the powers to be have shaped this society and its people to act and live like sheep. (idiots without wisdom) anything for profits, no matter at what cost.
I’m not a person of racism or whatever but I do not trust Asians, full stop! – This is not their fault for their desperations and situation in their lives, first off their own Govt do not look after their people and as for the corruption that’s runs like wildfire in their countries, that’s another story. What can I say?
LQQK at what they do, they supply the drugs within the Asian triangle so
He is not an innocent brother who was just helping his brother. He consistantly has refused to disclose who he was working for so it must be assumed because of no other evidence that he was working for himself, HE WAS NOT just a mule.He has good english skills so must have known the risks involved and the punishment if caught and the huge gains if succesful.
Singapore should be commended for a tough ANTI DRUG stance.
Australian's on death row, that have no criminal offences as This poor man and cooperating with police here and over there, should not be executed for a silly mistake he has made once, wake up indonesia stop been so harsh on 1st offenders ,if this poor young man hangs, you have committed murder in my eyes,if he had a record of other drug offences fair enough, this was his first to help his brother ,a mistake he knows, and will not do again, spare his life NO MURDER.
I respectfully request that the Singapore officials spare Van's life!
I truly do understand the pain & frustration that the Nguyen Family are feeling now...my prayers, thoughts, compassion & support have been with you always!!
My older brother, Randy Sachs, is serving 16 years hard labour in VIETNAM, enduring horrendous human rights violations & surviving on 2 cups of cooked rice a day & 18 litres of filthy pond water a day.
He was originally slated for execution.....I am happy that they spared his life, but now his health is rapidly depleting......
It makes you wonder about travelling abroad or supporting trade agreements etc???
Please show taht Singapore is a compassionate country & spare Van's life!
Respectfully awaiting your approval of clemency for Van...

This is a tragedy for this young man. I know of a young man here in Australia who was caught doing the same thing and some very clever lawyers got him off! This was much to his parents relief. I am not condoning what he has done but to put him to death with not solve anything at all. There is always some good in anyone no matter how bad they are and everyone can be rescued. The pity of it all is that if you understand the Singaporean mentality it is all about them saving face. They have the worst record for not only animal rights but also human rights in the world. I for one will never go to Singapore again and if I find out that I am buying a product from them I will refuse to do so in the future. I can only pray for this young man's soul.
My thoughts are prayers are with Van and his family it is diplrably to think that the singapore leaders believe they have a right to execute another human being what makes them above all to do this John Howard stop fairy stepping around do something SCREAM
A very well educated developed country SINGAPORE ( so called!)....still living in the very old fashioned law/solution..."DEATH PENALTY"....what a shame ...!!!! Don’t you know this solution have failed in so many ways? If this solution have solved the problem then Nguyen Tuong Van would have never carried heroin to pay-off his twin brother's heavy debts. When you know this is not solving the problems at all. Goverment have made so many blunders by executing 400 prisoners since 1991. Why are you making the same mistake now and then? STOP EXECUTION RIGHT AWAY.....!

Veuillez-agréer, Madames et Messieurs Le Président de la France et Le Président de l'Amérique, l' expression de mes reconnaissances sincères et mes salutations distinguées.
Absolutely disgusting disregard towards a human being. He made a mistake, in which yes he should be punished but not to that exent... murders and rapists receive a far less penalty. A boycott of Singapore is imminent!!!
Australians would appreciate clemancy towards Nguyen Tuong Van's. They will always associate Singapore with his death if he is excecuted. This punishment does not fit the crime.
Such publicity has been attached to this case and to the punishment that Van has already received that surely no one else would risk committing the same offence in Singapore. What more can be gained by executing him? Please show clemency to someone who has repented and will not ever commit the same crime again.
People do make mistake killing them will not stop others from doing it. Let them live so they can let others know what they had gone through, that is a better way to limited the crime to the lower levels. Death is always not a good punishment for those people who commited a crime like Van's.
