what is going on here Macromedia? i have been using your products especially flash since version 4...and never thought anything like this would ever happen...
Your product's popularity was built solely on the backs of talented and forward thinking designers & developers. It would be very hard for us to continue to sell this technology (and yes we do sell it) if our position was undermined by such an unethical decision from one of our vendors.
It's hard enough designing for the web and deciding who to design to. This is a great infringement to choice. It is really a bad idea in the corporate world where the designers do not make the decisions.
As a designer for a competitor of Yahoo, I now am forced to decide whether or not to use Flash for our millions of customers.
I'm recommeding we dont as long as Yahoo is bundled
I dunno why macromedia did that, maybe Macromedia is going to broke, maybe not, but, the users put her trust in macromedia products, so, Macromedia is gonna loose users.
This is really dumb!
I already faced an issue with some companys not beeing aware of the yahoo toolbar and weatherbug bundle. I use Firefox, not only that i will try to push Flashplayer update to companys i work with, i now have the impossible(because of old apps) task to make them use Firefox(at least they left this clean) :(( bad macromedia, perhaps its in relation with the new browser they want to create. Who knows ...
proud to be an American - NOT. another reason this country is not respected around the world. we would sell our children if there weren't antiquated laws on the books.
This is a real bad decision, we have not only to fight vs microsft service pack restrictions now we have to do it against macromedia that its trying to earn more money without hesitating about its developer comunities.
my god this is scary... you mean that my webpage will have some advertising about children cookies?! please guys, come on... or maybe macromedia had already this planned out since the beginning... now all the websites with flash will not be able to have another choice and changing them will be too expensive..
Spyware is a horrible disease that is hurting reputable marketing and advertising professionals like myself. I refrain from using those methods to promote an idea or service, and have seen the negative impact that people who do use them have had.
I say no spyware, Adware, or any other unsolicited software at all!
foolish macromedia, very foolish. way to alienate your customer base. i for one am currently looking into alternatives to your once hounerable program!
As a User: If I want extras installed I will find and install them.
As a Webmaster: The thought of exposing visitors to my sites with unasked-for downloads fills me with dread.
Macromedia should stick to producing quality products that reflect their business in the best possible light. They should not sign contracts to with other internet giants to install third party applications on users machines. In my opinion this is a dirty underhanded way to increase revenue. I feel this move would negatively impact the publics view and faith of Macromedia. Please Don't Do It!
As a developer personally responsible for advising a whole series of companies in the purchase of EVERY single version of Director EVER, and several Flash versions too, I think I represent a LOT of money spent at Macromedia over the years. *I* am your customer. Please do not hijack *my* customer base by throwing other software that *I* did not endorse at *my* customers (not yours!) - I would hate to be forced to another tool!
macromedia: YOU STUPID STUPID ASSHOLES. I HOPE WHOEVER MADE THIS DECISION DIES IN AGONY WRITHING IN PAIN - STRAIGHT TO HELL, A CURSE OF CANCER ON YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FOR ALL TIME you've undone a decade of good work with 1 selfish greedy and CHEAP maneouvre
