Lack of Closed Season for Bass and Directed Effect...
Published March 13, 2005
guernseyfishing.com is a site dedicated to helping local and visiting anglers by offering up to date information about how and where to fish in the Bailiwick of Guernsey (includes the islands of Alderney, Sark and Herm).

We are asking whether the current large catches of bass off a local spawning ground will effect the local tourism industry as we try to work towards a closed season for this species in the future. This is to ultimately conserve the local and possible national bass stocks for the future.

More background information can be found here - http://www.freebb.com/viewtopic.php?t=28&freebb=guernseyfishing

We would like to ask current and potential visiting anglers whether this current bass fishing would make you question holidaying in Guernsey in the future?

If we can prove that it will make a difference then we have a strong case to put to the local State of Guernsey.

Our aim is to introduce a closed season or prevent fishing in this specific area during the spawning months.

Feel free to post any additional comments within this thread.

We, the undersigned, agree that the Island of Guernsey needs a closed season for Bass to ensure that the spawning fish at the fishing mark known as Boue Blondel are protected. We would be strongly against holidaying in an Island that does not actively protect Bass stocks and permits the mass catching of spawning Bass.
