My Holiday in Guernsey will be to fish for Bass primarily while the family amuse themselves elsewhere on the island. If the bass arent there neither will I be.
Due to the pair-trawling and illegal netting of bass around the southwest of the UK, angling-tourism has suffered considerably here in Devon & Cornwall over the past few decades. The greed of a few can cause economic hardship to the many – hoteliers, guesthouses, B&Bs, tackle shops, local pubs and shops etc. Good luck in achieving your goal and preventing this situation from happening in the Channel Islands!
The seas are in an appauling state as they are overfished to the max.
Tourism from the pleasure fishing industry is the lifeblood of this magnificent island and commercialism should not be allowed to stop it.
keep the Bass shoal safe.
Fishing holiday when the locals aren't trying to maintain a decent fish population - I don't think so. Be a real shame to find a spot I liked and then have the fishery completely ruined. Not worth even starting there.
Several years ago I wrote a letter to the JEP about the destruction these boats cause , of course it fell on deaf ears I hope this will help to stop these gready bastards from raping our seas
I've fished the Channel Islands - Alderney & Guernsey - most years for the past 22. Every year the fishing gets a bit harder because of the effects of inshore and offshore netting. Soon it won't be worth the effort. Madness, all that angler tourist revenue sacrificed for the benefit of a handful of commercial anglers.
Bass stocks are so important not just for the present but for future generations - we need to stop this horrendous decimation of our precious stocks for all the Channel Islands
I've been a part time commercial diving fisherman in Guernsey for nearly 40 years. Everything in my education and experience tells me that we must stop this senseless greedy slaughter of breeding bass.

I am not an angler; I am just a citzen from Paris, and as a simple human being, I do not accept a wild species be threatened by a minority of professionals. Sorry my english is so poor...

I blame sea fisheries for not putting a stop to it last year, this ground should be protected at all cost, especially from those greedy fisherman who are ruining their own livelyhoods as well as their childrens.

Overfishing is a major threat to all fish species including sea bass. As the numbers of the fish populations are quickly decreasing, action to prevent over fishing by comercial fisheries/fisherman has to be taken. Fishing at the spawning grounds is not only ill moraled but also devastating to bass population.
A more short sighted and wholesale waste of a commonly owned resource is hard to imagine.
The Guernsey authorities need to consider the impact on their own sea angling tourism and ask themselves why anglers should visit the island to fish in the future.
halte au massacre pour un poisson qui à cette époque de l'année se vend à peine plus de 5 euros.moi qui peche depuis 30 ans je constate qu'il y a de moins en moins de gros spécimens.
