I wholeheartedly support this petition to lift the Bat Embargo and question the intelligence of those who decided to enact it. I have heard that the reason DC is doing this is to limit confusion between multiple versions of the same character. I would argue that this isn't an issue. First of all, the Batman and Batman Begins have the same characters. Wouldn't that cause confusion in itself, given that, to some degree, the same demographic is watching both? I cite the various Batman action figures I have seen marketed for the Dark Knight movie. Also, there are already a number of shows already out there that feature Batman characters (Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Teen Titans, The New Batman Adventures, The New Adventures of Batman, SuperFriends, the World's Greatest SuperFriends, Batman, The Adventures of Batman and Robin), not to mention the amount of movies plus the comics. While that amount could be confusing, there are already enough shows that adding one more show doesn't make it that much more confusing. Also, the recent re-release of a lot of these onto DVD makes it that much more likely that people have seen a lot of these shows and have to compartmentalize anyway. The demographic that you're aiming at with Batman is not that young that the children cannot compartmentalize. In fact, they are probably better at it than their parents are, given their interest. You also have people outside of that kids demographic anyway in the form of comic book fans. Also, it seems that this was specifically aimed at the Justice League, given the time at which this was begun. Bruce Timm has been quoted as saying, "... Batman's only one ingredient in the Justice League's brew. The Bat-clan aren't really essential in any way to the current show." And yes, they may not be essential, but the fact of the matter remains: he is one-seventh of the core Justice League, meaning that at least a fraction of the episodes shoul

I really dislike the idea of a 'Bat-Embargo'. I mean, it really does seem silly and pointless if you really think about. To me, having characters that come out in the cartoons is sort of a way of advertising, then people (esp. kids) can be like,

The Bat-Embargo is the STUPIDEST idea I have ever heard of. No wonder Marvel comics are kicking DC comics ass in the movie world!

I understand the decession from a bussiness point. But I feel it is foolish. I feel that it will only increase popularity in those characters. I support this petiton.

I support this petition. You cannot buy the rights to batman, no one can own batman. It needs to be on the better show, JLU. JLU is better than "The Batman."
