Bullies don't belong in the pulpit or in the leadership of a Christian church. Adjourning a business meeting in the face of a motion on the floor is a bully tactic. Would the current leadership wish to show their desire for an open meeting and distance themselves from the previous adjournment?
Change is called for. Paul warned us to "not make a shipwreck of your life." Bellevue is making a shipwreck of the church and of the lives of it's members.
Yes, this needs to be done and done without TV or video cameras panning the congregation. What does the leadership have to fear?
Dr. Rogers would have done this right the first time.
Why all of the secrecy, if nothing to hide?
we desperetly need transparency and accountability in our leadership in BBC. in the coroporate world can you imagine stockholders being treated in this manner with no detailed financial statements and NO voice at the business meetings? it wouldn't be too long before you invested somewhere else. BBC leadership boasts of congregational governance. was the last business meeting an expample of "congregational governance"? we don't even have the freedom to speak or vote. Pastor Gaines, everytime you attempt to manipulate a situation and succeed your victory is shortlived because you dishonor youself, your family, the deacon body, BBC and the bride of Christ. God will not be mocked.God's Truth will prevail.
It is unfortunate to see God's house treated like a corporation under damage control. We must stand up for what is prayerful and right in the eyes of the Lord regardless of how uncomfortable it may make some.
I think we should always finish meetings no matter how long it takes. Also, the opposing side to the discussion should always have the same amount of time to discuss their opinions and beliefs in front of everyone. The speaker of the meeting should not rush the meeting, especially when something controversial is brought up.
More business meetings would mean less secrecy. It would have taken another two minutes to vote on the proposal for quarterly business meetings. There was something very fishy about that man's timing to adjourn the meeting. Obviously, some people do not want the congregation to meddle with church affairs.
Can anyone find evidence of secrecy and hiding financials in the New Testament Church? What are Gaines and Co. so afraid of? Seems to me they would welcome clearing the air. Wonder why not?
