In brief, a report from the "Michigan Leadership Institute" on Dearborn's public schools recommended banning the use of Arabic for instruction (and more?) at Fordson High School. If you are not aware, Fordson has a high population of English Learners, and a significant bilingual education program. I don't know how these educational consultants expect kids who haven't learned Academic English to learn science, math, or history without having Arabic-language support.

If you look at the comments on the discussion, you will see that there are a lot of toxic and corrosive comments directed against immigrants and the Arab community. Please consider being a voice for peace and understanding. If that takes too much time, please at least vote in the straw poll.

Since they're my employer, I have to point out that they neither commissioned the study nor knew anything about it until these articles came out. As of Wednesday, the administrators of WCRESA hadn't even seen the report.)
