Remove Bill Wirtz from the Hockey Hall of Fame
Published July 27, 2005
Bill Wirtz, owner of the Chicago Blackhawks, has done nothing to further the sport of professional hockey, and has done much to destroy one of the "Original Six". Among other things, Mr. Wirtz refuses to televise home games, and has persisted in a decade-long pattern of trading away talented players in favor of lower paid rookies, enriching his coffers while depriving the team of play-off chances. His arrogance and mismanagement are insults to Chicago hockey fans and to one of the greatest teams in the NHL. Although inducted in 1976, this man does not deserve to be a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
