Bath needs a community social centre!
Published February 26, 2010
We believe that Bath needs a not-for-profit, community run social centre. We feel that there is a lack of genuinley community run spaces in Bath, and that the Black Cat centre fills this need.
It is our opinion that the best way to build strong, caring, safe, fun and sustainable communities is for the community itself to address its own needs and concerns, and that part of this process is having an independent space for community use.
We call on BaNES council to provide the Black Cat centre with a permenant home in one of the many disused council owned buildings located around Bath.
We further believe that, as the Black Cat centre has shown itself to be a community spirited, responsible and socially necessary initiative, the council should not evict the Black Cat centre in its squatted form and provide the centre with a temporary home while it considers providing the Black Cat centre with a permenat building.
