The only TV show I watch. Losing it discourages me twice: personal loss, and a feeling that an intelligent show with careabout characters cannot be provided by the sad crew of todays's television's programming decision-makers.
Boston Legal will return for the '05-'06 season.
Following Grey's Anatomy's out-of-the-gate success on Sundays at 10 p.m., ABC announced it will postpone Boston Legal's return to the schedule until the fall. The move enables Grey's to continue airing in that time slot through the end of the season.
"Ultimately, we decided that, without having adequate lead time or marketing dollars to devote to moving either show so late in the season, we'd continue to let Grey's build on its tremendous momentum through May," said Stephen McPherson, president of ABC Entertainment. "We're extremely excited that this will give us the amazing luxury of bringing Boston Legal back next season with an unheard-of 27 original episodes."
Although Boston Legal ranked No. 1 at 10 p.m. among total viewers (12.5 million) and adults 18-49 (4.9/12), Grey's is delivering ABC's best retention yet in the time period leading out of the hit series Desperate Housewives. After its first two broadcasts, Grey's averaged 17 million viewers, scoring a 7.4/18 among adults 18-49.
Boston Legal is a real sleeper. An outstanding show that will take time to catch on, very similar to Frazier. Grey's is a nice show but has no staying power. Boston Legal is your West Wing. It's smart with class and great acting as the Emmys are trying to tell you. Duh!
I still wait on Sunday nights to see if Boston Legal is back. When I see "Grey's Anatomy" coming on, I switch channels. I enjoyed Boston Legal so much, and did not like the first episode of "Grey's" at all, so will not watch another.
Boston Legal was the piece d'resistance to a fabulous Sunday lineup. Grey's Anatomy by NO MEANS compares to BL. Bring it back. David E. Kelley is a genius. We and many of our friends will be flipping to NBC or CBS after DH until BL is back on!
Cancelling something to avidly watched can end up in a backlash that hurts all your other programs, gents.Audience loyalty is tied directly to network's reliability.
Just got into it and now it seems to be gone! Why? I'm sick of programmers making bad decisions. They're not all that smart, like the geniuses that cancelled Star Trek after the second season.
I looked forward to Sunday nights to watch Boston Legal. While I like Grey's Anatomy, (it's a good show, too) I am sorry that it replaced BL. I wish that I could watch them both!!
Boston Legal was the best show on T.V. since "Mash" -- well written, fabulously acted. I've never signed a petition to save a show before now.

I think it is truly unfair that Grey's Anatomy stepped into a time slot that was already filled with a strong following. Since my husband works in a hospital, we have never watched a show that was centered around a hospital. We only watched because watching ABC's Sunday night line up became part of our Sunday night ritual. Expecting Boston Legal to come back the following week has been extended far too long. I hope to see Boston Legal soon.
This is a show our whole family enjoyed each Sunday night. The Grey's Anatgomy seems like it is trying to be like ER. ER is already number 1 for that type of show. Please don't cancel Boston Legal.
You must bring back Boston Legal. We enjoy the show so much and have been disapointed every Saturday morning when we open our tv guide to Sunday evening hoping we will see Boston Legal listed. We love the show.
Why was Boston Legal dropped? It had to be one of the best shows in many years!! Please ask them to reconsider placing it back on primetime television where it belongs. I am quite sure it would be a long running, high rated series. Thanks, Dave Anderson

My wife and I loved Boston Legal. We'd wait all week until Sunday night at 9 cst. Imagine our dismay week after week to find that our favorite show had just vanished. We don't watch/we don't like Gray's Anatomy solely because of the way you handled Boston Legal.
I am so glad to find this petition. I've been conducting a letter to ABC about the MIA Boston Legal. I can't stand Grey's Anatomy and have not come across anyone who can. I have 3 children and the 9-11 pm timeslot has been my "mommy time sanity break" with Desperate Housewives and Boston Legal. I feel a little ripped off now.
I hope you return Boston Legal to the lineup soon. My wife and I were hoping to watch Deaperate Housewives and Boston Legal back to back but I guess if you don't run Boston Legal we will be changing the channel after Desperate Housewives.
Why would such a great show as Boston Legal be terminated in mid-season??? This is literally the only show on TV that I care enough about to fit into my busy schedule – actually planning for Sunday’s at 10pm – and my wife and two college age daughters all watch it too! I have NEVER cared enough to check to see when a show was going to be broadcast next, but at least I found this web site and (some) good news… I guess seeing 27 new episodes next season is some consolation, but not much… what was ABC thinking???
Watching the alphabet channels is pure insanity! An intelligent, maturely humorous gem like Boston Legal is abruptly ended before the season finished... Aaargh! IMHO, it's almost impossible to find worthwhile programming on the alphabet channels and then they go and pull a stunt like this. And just when I had finally returned to being a devoted fan of an alphabet channel program. Bring Boston Legal back and leave it alone!
I just now went online to find out why Boston Legal, my favorite show is still not scheduled and thank-you that at least it's not being canceled!!!!
I tape it every week in case I might miss it. I will delete its time slot until it returns in the fall. The Practice was my favorite also. Keep up these excellent types of shows. They are so down to earth and say it like it really is in the the real world!!!
I can't believe this show is being cancelled! I found this petition while looking online trying to determine why Gray's Anatomy was coming on every week in it's place. I almost cryed when The Practice ended but at least it had a good long run. Taking a show of this excellence of the air after only one season would be a sad injustice.
A witty, intelligent, socially relevant show that entertains and challenges preceptions. Stop with all the doctor show cliches, and bring back something truly GOOD.
David E. Kelleys writing of this series is intelligent, witty and just what we need at 9 pm CT on Sunday nights. I know that there ending episodes are coming back and also heard that it was renewed for next season. Keep the magic going...Spader what more could you ask for. Love that man.
Boston Legal is the only show I watch every week, only show for which I know the time, and only show my wife and I regularly recommend to friends. More, please!
as a tv producer for espn, i can well understand the difficulties with a moderately successful show. Boston legal is the wittiest,current risk taker on the tube.I for one would sorely miss it if not renewed.
DENNY CRANE!! This show is brilliantly written and performed. The foundations? Spader and Shatner. It would be a horrible mistake for ABC to even consider removing a show so funny as well as engaging. Finally, a staple of Boston Legal that MUST remain... DENNY CRANE!!
I was very upset that Boston Legal was taken of the air.
It was timeless entertainent my daughter loves it who is in her 30s I love it I am in my 50s and my husband loves it he is in his 60s.
