The move by Eden Park to turn the terraces into a ‘Lite Zone’ by serving only low alcohol beer during the March 4 ODI against the West Indies is, according to chief executive John Alexander, a reaction to the poor crowd behaviour experienced in the terraces during last year's Chappell-Hadlee game against Australia.
This petition is designed to overturn this decision by blaming the Black Caps’ for the terrace's behaviour. It is obvious that the crowd were forced into their raucous behaviour by the Black Caps’ atrocious on field performance.
It is scientific fact that a crowd's behaviour is directly proportional to the home team's performance; hence, were the Black Caps to play better the terraces would behave better.
After the Black Caps’ demolition of the West Indies in the first game of the ODI series it is a safe bet that the crowd will be very well behaved throughout the remainder of the West Indies’ tour.
Unfortunately this move follows on from Eden Park’s other crimes against the terraces such as; serving only low alcohol beer during the second innings of ODIs, denying access to the first five rows of the terraces during ODIs, and placing annoying arse-cups on the terrace’s bench seating resulting in reduced leg room.
By signing this petition you will be demanding that Eden Park reverses its decision for the good of all cricket fans world wide. Without full strength beer it is likely that the crowd will be quieter, Mexican waves will be less frequent, and women will be over-dressed.
This is not cricket as we know it, nor as we want it.
Sign the petition and fight this injustice.

why did you come here? the game's over. we lost. the crowd was small. but with the poor crowd support experienced throughout the series, and with the auckland cup being run on the same day as the final one-dayer i would have thought that john alexander would have done everything he could to encourage people to go to the cricket such as lowering the prices of admission or beer. but what did he do? he took away beer (i heard he wanted to raise the cost of tickets too, but the board wouldn't let him). well did anyone turn up? not really. i win!
