I thought I'd signed this petition but evidently not, so that means I signed a different one - we're not alone! The fact that even though we don't have all the signatures we could have we still have over 2,300 just goes to show how common our feelings are. I was shocked to discover our view is not unanimous, however, but as it happens those who support May tend to be from the nation that chose Bush over Kerry! ... No offence to Americans (they'll be plenty of them in this petition no doubt, and any others are as welcome to join as anyone from other nations), but I do hope that making the wrong choice over who to have isn't genetic! As it happens it was the Japanese who made this regrettable decision, so Americans are certainly not alone in making mistakes, and we should keep this in mind. Even so, having gone in to that diversion, I just want to say a few reasons WHY Misty is preferable to May.
(I) Misty is much more mature. We already know that this is preferable in a Pokémon character, because we have seen an improvement in Ash following his post-Indigo maturity.
(II) Misty is a source of entertainment not from us laughing at us, but laughing with her, which is ultimately a much more rewarding experience in entertainment. Her sardonic sentiments and other linguistic brilliances are only a small part of how this functions.
(III) Every character with dimension combines “flaws” with “talents”; this is perfectly trivial. However, a multi-dimensional character only gains requirement of these because of a need for realism, which like respectable sources of entertainment is very rewarding. Now it is part of this realism not only that characters have both positive and negative attributes, but also that they bring in to question through the predicates they have how these two categories are to be distinguished; such is typical of realism. So-called “flaws” of a character do in a less realistic situation tend to include whacking people with ma
