How has this happened to a young girl clearly innocent to the extent that all of Australia are behind her. It could have been any one of us travelling there. She's a vitcim of her misfortune, thats all. help her please
the indonesian's should be ashamed of their law system and their "justice" that they stand for. become a cilvilised country, not a 2nd world one at that and learn from law professionals how cases of innocence should be held and not even tried.
I am from NZ and I have watched the trial this afternoon. I am very sorry for Schapelle and I know she is not guilty. I believe the Indonesian justice system is flawed and unfair. They will do anything to find a scapegoat regardless of evidence. I am certainly never going to visit Indonesia ever, have never been there and never will. If it can happen to someone like Schapelle and then it can happen to anyone. I pray for Schapelle and her family. May god give her strength to fight this injustice.
Please do anything you can to free her as soon as possible. I am Shapelle's age. I am going to have children soon, I am married, I am having plans for my life. When my kids finish High School, Shapelle will be leaving jail....?? Let her go, Shapelle is completely innocent. Rather search the people who are really guilty on this. Out there is a person who is responsilbe for al this. I hope that this one person or more will not forget this ever and God will let justice speak one day - and he certainly will.

Justice was not fairly served today, It is unfair to lock up a women who has her life ahead of her and who is clearly innocent. Howard as our prime minister should of been able to do more to help her. E.G look into the airport workers that are behind this, wheres the investigation going? Shame on Indonesia for not giving one of our own a fair trial.
Shappelle is GUILTY of smuggling drugs into indonesia... the evidence is there, she is NOT innocent. i think her sentencing is ridiculous of 20 years jail... you do the crime you do the time

Very poor effort from Johnny Howard. I think Australia should take back everything we have given to Bali recently. Where would Bali be without the help and support from millions of Australian during the Bali bombings and the tidal wave incident. Now Australian's what an innocent person sent back to her home country and they can't even do that. I say Bali can go to hell!

What a travisty of justice. Our young lady gets a sentance of Twenty years and the indonesian that was responsible and proven guilty for the deaths of so many Aussies gets a measley 4 years. Come on Mr. Howard get off your behind and fight this ridiculous sentence.
I believe the Indonesian officials "conveniently" ignored aspects of the case which may have proved Shapelle's innocence, ie. fingerprinting the package of drugs and comparing weights of her baggage. I feel Schapell has also perhaps been poorly advised legally. She should have had better equipped lawyers.

She has not been given a fair trial, she can't from the evidence I have seen be convicted of importing marijuana into Bali beyond a reasonable doubt. I know the Indonesian justice system is an inquisitorial one, however, she has not received a fair trial.

Unfortunately governments rarely take notice of public opinion. I think a campaign to boycott Bali and marches should be set up in every major city in Australia. This is not justice and its time for the public to stand up and be counted on the issue. We need to show Schapelle that we are here for her and show the government we won't tolerate it.

Qantas should be given 20 years! Why are they so quiet..protecting their employees and image? If Shapelle was guilty ..why didn't the person checking in her luggage at Brisbane SMELL the suspicious cargo! Let's be real here! It's interesting - they want our Billion dollars to rebuild - but refused our massive technical advantage in forensic to analyse where the drugs were from and any fingerprints on the bags.I call for a boycott on travel and removal of charity funding till justice is reconsidered
This whole situation is unbelievable - she wasn't given a fair trial, any defences she had against the charges were largely discounted. The horror of having your life taken away from you when you are innocent is terrible. This could have been any one of us..I don't know who to blame but I know the Australian authorities could have provided more evidence and also insisted that certain forensic tests which would be permissable under australian law should be incorporated into her defence..Keep the pressure up on the Government to do soemthing.
