I do not believe Ms Corby is guilty, and that she was not aware that the drugs were in her possession.Like the defense, I believe baggage handlers at the airport smuggled them in her baggage.
20 years is crazy!!! I hope the Australian Government can get her home. The Corby family should appeal to the American public for help I think the American people are powerful and can make things happen. I'm Canadian.
This world is so full of shady people. There are too many stories out there that have warned travellers to not do such things that they have accused shapelle of doing. This government is ignorant and this is a crime towards innocent people.
I think the govenment that let the drugs through in the first place should be held accountable for not checking the bags before getting on the plane.
This is clearly a set up!
Paul - NYC, US
My friends and I here in New York City are well beyond the feeling of outrage! We invite the prosecutor, judges, and anyone else in support or involved in sentencing Schapelle to take a step into NYC. We'd like to not only have a word with you, we'd like to show you how we do things downtown New York style!!! We'll see how tough you are then!
All anger aside, we whole-heartedly support Schapelle's immediate release and freedom from this abomination of justice.
We want to know how we can actually and literally help her in her return - so if any Aussie's know of any protocol to do this, please e-mail esoterictunes@hotmail.com
Hey you idots Bali is Hindu and suffered greatly at the hands of T he Indonesian goverment in the 60s so please dont blame ALL Indonesians for what their stupid and ignorant justice system has done to a innocent woman.
I think this is most inhumane thing i have ever seen. I believe she is innocent, and even if she isn't it's the most inhumane treatement done by the Indonesian authority to a person in such an inprefect world. I think Indonesia's authority should wake up and see how are they so perfect in the inperfect world and can take decision to sentence corby for such a crime she hasn't committed.
God help us!
Sumeet.
I will not visit or buy any products from Indonesia. I will boycott all things indonesian. This girl must be let go. I will spread the word to everyone and anyone I meet until she is released.
Just heard the news here in Ireland and im disgusted with what has happened. The world is angry and with all Australians until she gets released or is returned home. returns
I'm just now catching wind of this story in Los Angeles. Horrible. Things like this are, I'm sad to say it, turning me into a racist. Stay out of Indonesia if you know what's good for you. Hell, stay out of any Muslim nation right now. Good Luck Schapelle, I'm pulling for you
The Indonesian Government needs to step into the 21st century. Innocent or guilty, this sentence is way too harsh. Send her home! Don't let Schapelle rot in a 3rd world country!!
Francesca Z: We should not promote censorship either, you intolerant slut. Most of us are incensed at the Muslims! She is so very beautiful, I would marry her today.
COMMENT ON SIGNATURE 4301: please check, its comment is quite intolerant and highly offensive! We are on the side of democracy and tolerance, not racism and idiotness!!
A strong, competent leader who is interested in doing what is morally and ethically required would correct this gross injustice on principle alone, political and diplomatic consequences be damned! If you have a set of balls, Mr. Prime Minister, this outrage will not stand.
Sir,
This sentence is an outrage. Consider it in light of the 2.5 year sentence given to an Indonesian terrorist (who unapologetically confessed to murdering hundreds of Australian citizens) by the same court... 2.5 YEARS FOR A MASS MURDERER vs. 20 YEAR FOR A TOURIST WHO WAS APPARENTLY AN INNOCENT MULE IN A DRUG OFFENSE???!!!
Corby's sentence is nothing less than the cynical and vindictive behavior of a hostile foreign government who regards Australia and her citizens with contempt. Protect your population from this morally corrupt and illegitimate imprisonment.
I know the world is sick of hearing Americans loudly express their opinions, so please forgive me for fulfilling the stereotype. However, this situation is an affront to the entire civilized world.
I believe Schapelle Corby to be innocent and would like to help in whatever way I can. I believe injustice itself is a crime, and to passively standby is wrong. One day this could happen to your sister, your brother, your friend .... or it could happen to YOU. The masses should and MUST speak. Don't just read and move on ..... DO SOMETHING TODAY.
Let her go! She's innocent! Indonesia should be more concerned with pimping out children for sick men who visit their country for sex vacations. LET HER GO!
But she's been sentenced to 20 years right? So we'll have to wait a bit. IN the meantime, LET'S BRING HOME TO SCHAPPELLE! That's right, we Aussies should all make a run to Bali, fill is hotels, avail ourselves of its many touristy delights...all as a show of force in support of our beloved Schappelle.
I'm a Bulgarian who's not fond of my president!! Dammit! I'm not! However I know that Georgi Purvanov would have the courage to stand up to a country like Indonesia that would not be able to exist were it not for tourists. That's right: minus the tourists, Indonesia will cease to exist. If you don't take any kind of military action to get your drug smuggler back, than you and your government are something even lower than Bulgarians. My God, as a Bulgarian it hurts to say it. Just remember: a country has a duty to defend its enterprising smugglers, whether they are into drugs, prostitutes, light arms, etc.
I'M AN AMERICAN WHO'S NOT TO FOND OF MY PRESIDENT. HOWEVER I KNOW THAT GEORGE W. BUSH OR ANY AMERICAN PRESIDENT FOR THAT MATTER WOULD HAVE THE COURAGE TO STAND UP TO A COUNTRY LIKE INDONESIA THAT WOULD NOT EVEN BE ABLE TO EXIST IF IT WERE NOT FOR TOURIST LIKE SCHAPELLE. IF YOU DON'T TAKE ANY KIND OF MILTARY ACTION TO GET THIS GIRL BACK WHO'S IS BEING IMPRISONED FOR 20 YEARS IN A "INDONESIAN" JAIL FOR MARIJUANA, THEN YOUAND YOR ENTIRE GOVERNMENT ARE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH COWARDS.
Innocent or guilty the whole case has opened a window to the drug trafficking within our airports. With that info Little Johnnie should have got off his hairy arse and helped prove her innocent. Yes according to indonesian law she is guilty until proven innocent so why hasnt the Australian government done anything until now. I believe this will definately reduce Johnnies chance at another term as PM. We waste billions of dollars saving them after a big wave and look at what we get, a kick in the face. Grow some testicles Johnnie and do something.
Tourism in Bali will die. After the bombings Australians felt sorry for Bali so we continued to travel there, after the tsunami we sent food, people, ships and plenty of cash. Again we felt sorry for them. Now they have pissed us off aussies will boycott traveling there. Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Several people i know have changed their holiday destination and will NEVER go to bali.
Shapell,we love you ,you are inocent of all this shit.I dont care about the stupid indonesian laws, they are laughing at all the australians. Australia has given so much help to that country ,and they are doing nothing to help the feeling of a whole nation....free Schapelle right now !!!!!
Hello I am a Candian and I have been reading and following this story and it is very upsetting to see such an outstanding person such as Schappelle and her family go through such an ordeal when she is not even guilty, as a strong Canadain I stand behind you Schapelle and dear what comes around goes around and their day will come. Stand strong and beleive in your self and always remember you have family and friends that are standing beside you all the way. God Bless you and your family and friends. May all you strong fellow Austrialia"s stand strong together and bring this young lady back home to where she belongs, we always fight for are rights no matter what it takes. God Bless you Schapelle and justice will come out of the wood works dear.
I think we should boycott countryes that try to prosecute our criminals who do crime sin their countryes because our peoploe are innocent and they must be framed by those scounrdel mutts in their third world sh*t holes. it must be the case because corby so pretty and sweet and not never do no crime to hurt nobody that sweet little angel. and we should punish all indonesians for the criminal justice system in bali not giving an outcome that is to our country's liking. in fact, i think retribution should be exacted upon all ASEAN nations so that Malaysia, Thailand and the rest will come to bear on INdonesia regarding this miscarriage of what I think justice should be. So there! PUtting this girl behind bars is a major international incident! Forget Iraq, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, etc etc etc....those Balinesian b*ttwipes got our nation's most beloved drug smuggler behind bars! so what're we gonna sit back and do nothin? i think not! let's kick some indonesian butt.
Everyone in Canada supports you too. Any country where people are guilty until proven innocent should be boycotted. I will not ever go Indonesia. Frankly I wish I could have my tsunami donation back. I have written to the comapany I work for as well as my government asking them to cease doing business with human rights abusing police state Indonesia
i wish u the best of luck in ure appeal, and by rights the evidence should have been tossed out of court with all the mistakes that were made by professionals "in not taking care of evidence properly for finger prints"
I could write a novel about this as i've been following the case very closely since day 1. In brief, the whole situation is politically corrupt, everybody knows she is innocent. There are TOO many things that prove her innocence and only one thing that says she may be guilty - the fact that it was in HER bag. Lack of fingerprints and video footage also proves the lack of professionalism and it should never have even gone to trial. My heart goes out to her and her family and I will ontinue to fight for her until justice is served.
What is troublesome is that we are told to not stay away from Bali as it will only hurt the Bali people. However it was these very same people who in the only official poll commissiond there, in which a WHOPPING 90% believed she was guilty. And these same people were are not supposed to hurt, are also the same Bali people who were clapping and cheering outside the court. It doesn't seem like these 'innocent Balinese' are as friendly and welcoming of Australians as what the Bali apologists would have us believe. The trial was a farce right from the beginning.
I'm an Indonesian living in continental Europe. I sincerely think that the justice system of Indonesia and in this case the trial of Schapelle Corby are severely flawed and erroneous. The recent verdict on her case is utterly repulsive and out of place. It is now the responsibility of BOTH the Indonesian and Australian government to shed the light of true justice in this whole matter. Whatever the truth is, she still does not deserve this excessive consequences, and do neither of us all. The world does not live in the dark age anymore, and no one should.
An international economic boycott of Indonesia by tourists, businesses, banks, NGO's, and government agencies, should be imposed, if petitions to release Schappelle continue to be ignored. This would put considerable financial/economic pressure on the Indonesian government and people to acknowledge Schapelle's innocence, and release her. I would encourage supporters of Schappelle to mobilize support from people all over the world for her release, as well as enlist the support of Amnesty International, of which I am a member. This issue is important not only to Australians, but to defenders of Human Rights around the world. International pressure should also be put on Indonesia not to be so lenient with Islamicist terrorists. Those are the ones who should be imprisoned for life, not innocent people like Schapelle.
Our hearts are with you and your family all the way from America. I for one will never go to Bali, in protest- my fantasty vacation will now be to go to Australia!!! God Bless, be safe
Isn't it amazing how many Australians are outraged by the total injustice Schapelle is enduring? It just goes to show that there is far more reasonable doubt about her guilt than there is evidence to support it. What a disgrace the Indonesian legal system finds themselves in today.Do they not realise that us Aussies are fighters with plenty of heart and courage? We shall not rest until we have our beautiful girl home where she belongs. They cannot take another innocent Australian's life. We have to fight.
I'm from Denmark but this just came in the news, i can tell your that this crime in denmark would give 2-4 years, so innocent or guilty..... INJUSTICE IT IS!!!!!!
Please send her back home, 20yrs is completely ridiculious... murderers and terrorist get less time.... She has not harmed anyone. For the travellers out there.... it could of been you... I know I'm not going to be visiting Indonesia.
she does not deserve this bring her back what a ridiculous sentence even if she was carrying marijuana if everyone in the world who had touched marijuana was given the death sentence half the globes population would be dead
TO ALL AUSTRALIANS, DO NOT GO TO BALI, THIS TO COULD HAPPEN TO YOU DONOT GO TO BALI EVER AGAIN WARNING, WARNING WE ARE WATCHING THE AIRPORTS, YOU BETTER NOT GO OR YOU WILL BE SORRY WARNING DO NOT GO TO BALI OR INNDONESEA
What an absolute disgrace of justice today after the verdict was read i have cancelled my booked holiday to bali in november i suggest fellow australians do the same as this could have been you your sister or daughter i also will not buy any bali products marketed here in australia on principal pull together australia lets do all we can to bring this poor girl home. Schapelle keeep strong you always will have your beautiful spirit your family and aussie behind you love and light angel
Fight! For innocents, for truth. In God's name, we are a nation that stands for truth and justice. We Australian's believe in democracy. Our feelings now can only be voiced through the politicians we choose to represent us. For God's sake, for our childrens sake, for the sake of all who still believe in right and wrong, stand up and speak on our behalf. The country is at threat of losing all faith in the system we were raised to respect. This could happen to any of us. If not for any other reason, fight for the right of all Australian's to believe in their right to be free. FIGHT! For the rights of those who stand silent. FIGHT! FIGHT!! FIGHT!!!
I can understand the position of the judges in Bali, this does not change my feelings that Schapelle is innocent, I have been to Bali & had considered going back & taking my daughter & new partner with me , no longer, & untill she is home & free, any person or charity asking for help in Indonesia will be told "NOT INTERESTED" , I am sorry that this will affect innocent people, but they have affected one of our innocents as far as I am concerned, should the Howard government fail to get her unconditional release , considering all the help we have given them & the kick in the guts they gave us over the Bali Bomber master mind , they will be not be getting a vote from me, the Bali nine are a different story , but still believe there is unanswered questions there. The biggest thing for me is WHY WOULD ANY BODY TRY TO TAKE MARY J IN TO INDONESIA . Can they or anybody answer this?Another Question is how many Balinese or Indonesians have been convicted of drug trafficing in the last 2 years compared to expats? Should the number exceed people from Bali or Indonesia , I would suggest the system is corrupt. The main thing in Schapelle's case is why would you risk taking Mary J to Bali when you can sell it for more in Australia?
I can't believe those bali legal defence lawyers are contesting the sentence given-Isn't 20 years too much for an innocent victim. Only a sadist type people would do this. I didn't hear of any contesting to the light sentence the bali bombers got.It frightens me so much to think that this could be me or a member of my family and my heart goes out to her and her family
I am in USA and I can't beleive that we hadn't heard of this before! I am sending the petition to everyone I know! Our prayers are with you Schapelle!!
GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE, COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS I CAN; AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE
please someone give this to schapelle, read every day
Just seen the footage of the trial and was in tears for all concerned. This is absolutely tragic and it's hard to believe that justice has not prevailed. Trying to respect another country's laws but it feels like they are making an example out of Schapelle.
