Whether she did it or not, the crime (if committed) does not match the sentence. The Indonesian Government has double standards and our Government should be laying a heavier hand with helping Schapelle. There is not enough evidence for her tough sentencing.
there was too much doubt in her trial, she should therefore have been found not guilty. What she has had to endure in prison, is punishment enough, send her back home.
There's not enough proof of any sort to prove she's guilty. She doesn't deserve this sort of treatmant - bring her back. Innocent until proven guilty is the saying.
i believe schapelle should be released regardless of her innocence the conditions she is imprisioned in are terrible and under no circumstances should any human have to be forced to living in such conditions.
Bring her home. She is innocent. Indonesians have NO sense of real justice. Whatever happend to innocent until proven guilty (not the other way around) Please offer this girl a fair and true trial not one based on lies
Bring the poor girl home. I won't EVER be going to Bali. Not out of spite, but because it's not worth the risk. If this is justice, they can keep their dang country.
Indonesian Justice - Two words that shouldn't be used in the same sentence. The corruption in this country is well documented, how the hell can John Howard state "he believes in the justice system" in Indonesia.
Obviously, the presented evidence preclude a conclusion of guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Let's get the young home and avert a tradgedy for both Bali and Ms. Corby!
Though I am not trully convinced of her innocence, I do believe she was not given a fair trial. If she is innocent, she has endured the highest level of injustice. As there is no hard evidence, the case should have been dismissed.
The Indonesian system is known to be corrupt and heavily bias. How can the Australian government sit idly by and watch what is being done to one of their citizens? They have an obligation to help!
I think the situation that Schapelle Corby finds herself in is a perfect example of why Australia when establishing protocols with countries such as Indonesia, must insist on parity with Austrsalian sentencing laws for Australian citizens. Guilty or innocent when Indonesian citizens get 10 years for bashing a person to death -V- 20 years for posession of Marijuana is discusting. What sentence will be handed down to the currupt prison officials that require bribes to allow access and the provision of basic essentials to prisoners in Indonesian gaols?
The point that no-one really knows whether she did it or not is enough to show she should not be jailed for 20 years. She should be in Australia at the least. Enough Politics : Australia helped them, now they need to help an Australian
An innocent victim of a cruel world! Bali...set Schapelle free or face a long time of suffering. Unfortunately, your innocent people will be the ones suffering.
I am totally ashamed to say i am an Australian. How our Government could hang this poor lady out to dry is dusgusting and i for one think that John Howard and the AFP should hang their heads in SHAME for their actions in this case. What hope do my children have of being protected by their government.
Its time to change the barbaric laws of this country...stand up and fight for one of your own.Guilty or not, 20 yrs for some dope is barbaric compared to people who have murdered, and raped, etc. Get off your arse and rewrite your major wrong.Bring her home!!!!!
Aussie, is that what you call yourself.....crap. You are just like the judges, with the attitude of guilty until proven innocent. There is no proof that she put the drugs in there, the only proof is that it was her bag. Hey Aussie it could have been your bag!! Think about it.
There has been no JUSTICE in the Schapelle Corby trial, she did not have a chance and our own bloody Government sat on the behinds and did jack shit. As someone would say Shame, Shame, Shame, and he is a wanker just like you polititions. So get off you butts and do the right thing, GET SCHAPELLE BACK HOME
she smuggled drugs into a country where the penalty is death.
She is lucky she only got 20 years. Just because she is pretty and white does not make her innocent.
Bring her back to Australia and trial her with the correct justice systems of civilised countries. If she really is guilty she can go back, if not she can be released. If she is innocent, I feel for the hundreds of people jailed over there due to a judge that won't break his record everytime a drug offender is placed in front of him. My heart goes out to all innocent people caught up in things like this yet I don't know who you are and the million people that sign this unfortunatley will never know either. So if you have been wrongly accused and you are/have served 20 years in jail for something you never did, I'm sure everyone is feeling for you. I just hope they pick up there act with correct handling of evidence. A friend of mine went to Bali in January. He was stopped by police for riding a scooter without a license. He had to pay them (BRIBE) AUS$20 or go to the lockup with them. THIS PLACE IS RUN BY ILLEGAL MOTIVES FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE MEANT TO BE UPHOLDING THE LAW!!!! Next time you get pulled over by an Aussie cop. Just be glad that your in good hands. No matter how much you hate them for the fine they'll give you.
I can not believe what has happened to this young lady. I watched it on tv and i just couldn't beleive my eyes or what i heard, i cried for her.She needs to be freed from that horrible place.I hope everyone does everything in there power to help her.She needs to go home.
This is a disgusting thing to have happened! Obviously she was set up - what kind of a court trial was that! There has to be something that can be done to right this dreadful wrong!
i dont know if she is guilty or not, but even if she is, she didnt get a fair trail, and does not deserve the 20ys she got, she should be brought home and tried under australian law.
If Schapelle is guilty she deserves everything she gets. However, she also deserves a proper trial - in the 21st century, no country who convicts a person based on the pathetic lack of evidence provided in this trial can call themselves civilised!!
Schapelle is innocent of all allegations. This is a disgrace!! The Bali Bombers get 30 months for assisting in the killing of 88 Australians and Schapelle gets 20 years for a crime she did not participate in nor commit. A mexican woman gets 7 years for 15 kilos of marijuana importation in 2002. Where the hell is the consistency here? Shame, Bali, Shame!!!
I am an American with great concern over this case. As a supporter of liberty and due process, I urge you to expend all available resources to free this innocent person. I have cancelled my upcoming trip to Bali, headed for Tahiti instead. I regret my donation to tsunami aid and hope your government will consider with holding future relief until Ms. Corby is set free.
