I believe Schapelle is innocent, and has suffered this horrific ordeal long enough. It is disgusting the way Schapelle has been treated, Murderers are treated better.Its time to bring Schapelle home to her family,its not just one life being destroyed its all her family and friends too. I believe schapelle is innocent, even if she is guilty no one diserves this kind of punishment- to be locked up for 20 years, the maximum penalty should be an omense fine, or 5 years maximum in jail. Schapelle should be brought back to Australian ground as soon as possible!
to the Australian Prime Minister and government..Please make every strenuous effort to arrange for Schapelle to receive a prisoner exchange and return to serve her sentence in Australia. Once she is in Australia, she should receive extensive parole, options of home detention etc. the Indonesian judiciary's decision to sentence her to 20 years imprisonment for alleged importation of 4 kilograms of cannabis is totally unjust and a shocking blight on the Indonesian Justice system..The lengthy sentence is out of all proportion to the crime. Our hearts go out to poor Schapelle. We must never forget her and must continue to lobby hard for her release. There has also been suggestions of corruption of baggage handlers..In these circumstances I genunine fear Schapelle may have been the victim of ruthless drug traffickers planting the drugs in her luggage. THE judges could not have been clearer: they simply did not believe Schapelle Corby's emotion-charged, tear-filled pleas of innocence.
The facts, as they saw them, meant she deserved to be punished severely for trying to bring 4.1kg of marijuana into Bali.
"The defendant Schapelle Corby has been proven convincingly and legally guilty," Chief Judge Linton Sirait declared as pandemonium broke out in the Denpasar District Court.
"The sentence for the defendant Schapelle Corby is 20 years and a fine of 100 million rupiah ($13,875)."
His words brought today's two-hour court judgment to a stunning climax, and ended a four month-trial that has gripped Australia.
The 27-year-old Gold Coast woman stood stunned before the court's three judges as her interpreter told her the damning news.
Under Indonesian law, marijuana is a category one drug along with cocaine or heroin and drug smuggling is a capital offence.
According to the book, Corby could have been sentenced to death by firing squad.
But even as her defence lawyers and family spoke of a miscarriage of justice and announced an appeal, the prosecutors who had demanded life in prison complained that today's sentence was too lenient.
They plan an appeal to have it increased.
Indonesia does not have a jury system and the task of finding a defendant guilty or innocent is solely up to the judiciary, which also determines a sentence.
Today, three judges handed down a 60-page decision, laboriously running through the details of the case in Indonesian.
The judges flatly rejected the foundations of Corby's defence that she was the innocent and unwitting victim of a drug ring that transports marijuana through Australian airports.
They criticised the defence case as "very subjective", saying it had failed to prove that someone else possibly bag
About 40 people have picketed outside the Australian Embassy in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, criticising as too light, the sentence handed down to convicted Australian drug smuggler Schapelle Corby.
They carried signs reading "Corby, drug dealer, must die".
A Bali court has sentenced 27-year-old Corby to 20-years in jail for trafficking marijuana.
She had pleaded NOT guilty to the charges.
The demonstrators also criticised a security scare in Australia this week, in which a white powder was sent to the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra
One of the protesters says that incidents deeply pains many Indonesians, who see it as an insult to their integrity.
Police in Australia say the powder was harmless.

I do not believe that Schapelle is guilty and can't believe that the Australian and Indonesian Government's didn't do more investigation into all relevant facts surrounding the case. Bring Schapelle Home!!!

This poor girl should never have been jailed. You have got to ask why do murders over there only get 2 years for their horrific crimes, and an innocent girl can get 20 years for a crime she did not commit. Whether or not i agree with such a heavy sentence for posessing marijuana is not important - what is important is there was enough evidence supporting Schapelle's innocence that it seems inconceivable that the judge could have found her so convincingly guilty without a shadow of a doubt. To see this so obviously and publicly is a disgrace to the Indonesian Justice System and in particular the head judge who boasted that he had never aquited anyone before. His ego seemed more important to him than the truth.

My dear fellow Australians, this reaction of yours to Corbys jail sentence is not just plain embarrassing it is giving the rest of the world the impression you are a bunch of rednecks. Further, you are endangering all of us who live and work here in Indonesia and our families.
The laws of Indonesia apply to any person from any country. The woman committed an offence by being in possession of what Indonesian law regards as narcotics. She was rightfully found guilty and given a lenient sentence. Most people get life or the death penalty for this sort of offence.
The same applies in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Indonesia is not alone with its laws regarding narcotics. In fact, Singapore is by far the most intolerant even going to the extent of punishing persons found with traces of narcotics in their urine or blood.
Rather than making fools of yourself on the international stage why not do something sensible and proactive? If you firmly believe the woman is innocent then find the person who put the substance in her bag and report that person to the police. Come on, someone knows something about this if she is innocent.
Your brothers and sisters here in Bali (who still love you even though you are misbehaving badly) will be more than willing to exchange Corby for the real culprit.
