YOU ARE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR CABLE ... and you have no choice.
"CABLE A LA CARTE" is a proposal that Consumers Union has been pressing the FCC and Congress to consider and pass.
It will allow consumers to PAY FOR ONLY THE CABLE CHANNELS THAT THEY WISH TO RECEIVE.
-If you do not watch SPORTS, why should you pay for sports channels?
-If you do not watch CHILDREN'S SHOWS, why should you pay for them?
-If you do not want to have numerous RELIGIOUS channels in your 'bundle', why should you pay for them? If you like RELIGIOUS channels you will be happy to pay for them.
-If you are concerned about the SEXUAL content or VIOLENCE content in your cable 'bundle' you can delete them. BUT YOU STILL PAY FOR THEM.
This is a great NON-PARTISAN issue. It is a great way to tell cable companies which channels you support and which you do not and do it with the "mighty dollar".
Cable rates have risen 53% since 1996; three times the rate of inflation and our local rates have just increased again. This is simply unfair and exasperated by Cable Company monopoly. This is not free enterprise and we get no price benefit if Cable Companies have no competition.
Canada has had CABLE A LA CARTE for two years. It works.
