The Cable prices are ridiculous! And if you have cable broadband too! The price gets sky High! Not only That when there is a problem with the cable or internet and it needs to be serviced! It takes almost a week if not more till they can come and repair it. So we lose out!
Cable TV is a ripoff. Paying for 70 channels and only watching about 20 of them ever. Come that is highway robbery! I have cancelled my cable due to outrageous prices and will not go back until cable is affordable!!
I am tired of all the sports and repeats. We need our Choice of what and when we watch. It gets so boring changing channels and its the same show on different channels.
Rip off.
I support this petition. Cable is a big rip off. You pay for 100's of channels and can only watch 1 at a time. Plus after paying such a high price you still have commercials.
$40 for expanded cable, no premium channels?!? That's a ripoff. It shouldn't be higher than 20 bucks, considering I don't watch shopping channels, music video (which don't even show music videos anymore), childrens, outdoor, etc? No choice means higher prices. Choice means if I don't like what you offer, if your prices are too high, I can go somewhere else. Comcast is not a choice, it's highway robbery to someone who lives where the hills block all but 1 channel on rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna...And I don't live in the boonies, just the East Bay area in CA.
I support this petition. I recently cancelled cable service because I only watch a handful of shows. 90% of the other channels do not appeal to me. A few shows are not worth $50+ a month to view. It's simply a WASTE OF MONEY! Revise your business model, Cable Guys! Until then, I'll do without.
I DO NOT support this petition. A la carte is really stupid. Unless you watch fewer than 17 channels (the average household watches 17 or more) your cable bill will increase! This is coming straight from the FCC.
Death to Comcast!
I pay nearly $140/month for the premium package, only because I need high-speed internet, and to pay for basic cable and high speed internet, it's STILL $100. I feel trapped, like I have no choices. PLEASE, hurry up, competition!!
I support this petition. The is no competition for cable in Wheeling WV. I'd like to see some. The dish folks offer some competition but I need someone to remove the very large hill between me and the satellite. I hear Verizon would like to be in the cable business. Sounds like good competition for comcast.
I support this petition.
the cable companys pay our regulators to look the other way and do nothing, stuffing a bank account will win over honest representation every time.
I support this petition.
I think this is also an issue of MONOPOLIES. Corporate rights are totally illegitimate and their stranglehold on media output is destroying market competition and eliminating consumer choices. How many cable companies in your area are there to choose from?
I need help fighting that gay/lesbian channel Logo. Cox Cable company just started airing this garbage with out any notice. I don't want this in my home AND I CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT ONE PENNY OF MINE GOING TO SUPPORT THIS TYPE OF CHANNEL. PLEASE HELP... WHERE CAN I TURN?
The prices we are charged are tyrannical. The fact that we, as customers, have absolutely no choice in cable companies is the only reason these obscene hikes in rate are able to continue. Free commerce is what this country is supposed to protect and support. Supply and demand cannot ensure quality in our products and services if there are no other choices. That is simple economics, and the fact that we have to petition to get our Federal agencies to understand is truly disgusting.
yes, cable bills are extremely high and the usage dosn't reflect what people want to see on cable. Cable can be more flexible with the stations they accept with their contracts.
This is the first I've heard of cable a la cart, but I definitely support it. Why should we pay for more than we use? When it comes to utilities, we only pay for what we use.
I am a college student, and I have cable mainly for the news stations. I think that cable companies are riping me off!! Give me a break, I work 50 hours/week, and 21 hours of class!! When do I really have time to just sit and watch it all day!! I watch the news stations and leave it on the music stations when i'm studying, and THAT'S It!?!? Why does it have to be so freakin expensive.
I want to pay for what I want. Not pay for what I am forced to buy. For example, I pay for how many min I talk on long distance calls. It's about Freedom to choose what I want to do w/ my $$
It makes perfect sense to pay for only the channels you watch. I would pay an extra few dollars for Bravo, for example. But I will never pay for 40 other extra channels I don't want. So it's in the cable companys' best interests to offer a la carte channels, too.
I used to have cable but it got so expensive I couldn't pay the bill anymore. My son who has PDD used to use it for background noise as well as watching it. Video's just aren't doing it. I live in an apartment that doesn't allow anything on or outside the building so I don't think I can get satillite. I started out cable was about 33 dollars if that. Now its up to 45 dollars for crap. My son is the one suffering the most because he has nothing to really sooth him down when his up tight.
I am totally tired of paying for channels that I do not care about, like Eternal Wrod, Discovery, and other that I am forced to accept in my package. Wish you much success with this cable reform campaign.
Great idea! Maybe this will encorage better programming. The channels we choose, will then get paid based upon number of subscribers. We need a way to protect local, public access stations. Maybe they should be required/part of minimum subscription.
Only maybe 10% of the cable channels I receive are even vaguely watchable and a few of them are flat out offensive. Given that my cable company hasn't managed to provide me with *any* new programming in several *years* they can at least let me weed out the cheap fillers (Yeah, I'm looking at you Outdoor Living Channel.)
