We Protest The California Budget Of July 28, 2009
Published July 29, 2009
The budget signed on July 28, 2009 contains too many dangers to Californians.
We need whatever it takes to get immediate help to those whose lives are threatened by this budget. We also need to get the long-term problem of our state\'s chronic deficits eliminated, in a way that does not devastate Californians who are middle class or below in income.
There were many other alternatives to the course that was chosen for this budget. From health care to education to state parks to even fire-fighting, devastating cuts were made below the bone which threaten our most vulnerable citizens, our quality of life, our economy, and our future. We realize that something had to be done immediately. But now there is time to do the right thing, not only for our most vulnerable, but for our community and our economy.
