In response to the Vatican memo excluding gay priest candidates, and even those supporting “gay culture,” I, as Roman Catholic parishioner, reaffirm my commitment to recognizing every human person as a Child of God with valuable gifts to share, whether as community members or clergy. I am grateful for the commitment of our parish priests and candidates to devote their lives to leading our communities, and I am especially thankful to our gay brothers in this role, who continue to serve despite the misinformed and intolerant statements issued by the Vatican. We welcome all people to celebrate, worship, and join in faithful action as we learn together how to live the Gospel message. I hope and pray we can count on your leadership in promoting a compassionate and accepting welcome to religious leaders in our Diocese.
