Because of the current programming, I have been forced to listen to JRCountry and ClearFM, neither of which feed my soul. Please put the classical music and commentary back into CBC evenings.
Not only had Radio Two taken a hit, but WHY did you cancel the good music on Radio I from 11pm to 1am? The last thing I want to listen to before bed is talk show type stuff!! How difficult can it be to play two hours of good music?
Art is not a luxury, it is a requirement. It moves the spirit and ceates compassion. Check the drop in crime rate in Venesuela, where a nationwide music program for youth has been in effect for many years. CBC arts programming is one of the things that singles ut Canada from the rapacious countries.
I certainly agree and feel similar concerns relate to CBC 1, especially the program Q which is billed as an arts, culture and entertainment program. It is overbalanced with entertainment and especially pop music. It replaced The Arts Tonight which was an excellent program.
The statement to which I enthusiastically adhere needs only to be stronger in tone and less polite. I have already expressed my dissatisfaction with the changes when they were merely announced. As a seasonal resident of Canada, I have only this week been able to realize the full extent of CBC2's self-evisceration. I plan to make a fuller assessment when I have been able to listent to all or most of the changes. So far my experience has revealed a dismal wasteland of what was once a great radio station. Shame on all involved!
The cancellation of Two New Hours will mean the loss of something that holds and expresses both cultural and national beauty. Please consider retaining and even further developing Two New Hours.
Recent changes to both CBC 1 and 2 were very ill considered, in my opinion. Radio 1 is repeat after repeat and very much missed programming on Radio 2 is noted in the petition text.
I find that every time programming is
The CBC is the last bastion for people to interact with contemporary arts that may not be considered mainstream. I am very concerned by the increasing perception that the CBC is making more programming decisions like all of the other broadcasting mega-corporations.
Congratulations to Margaret Logan and Gary Purdy for encouraging dialogue about the progarmme changes to Radio 2. It is alarming to me, that our public broadcaster did not even consider giving Radio 2 listeners such a venue before arbitrarily imposing changes. Bring back Daneille Charbonneau!
The new changes at CBC Radio 2 are just appalling. Your frequent interruptions of programming to advertize for your night time programming is intrusive and unnecessary. Your frequent uses of the slogan
please do not take away this well-rounded programming. We need to get connected to other parts of the world through music. What an amazing gift to have taken away.
In the face of current management thinking at the CRTC, I think we need public hearings on the CBC and it's mandate to ensure that Ottawa understands the importance of the CBC to Canadians.
Please do not dumb-down CBC in an attempt to gain popularity among younger generations. As a thirty year old, I value new music--but only because I've learned to listen and appreciate it. If CBC does not educate and expose Canadians to our own composers in the new music genre, who will?
