There are thousands of junk-radio stations that supply ear-splitting rock music. We have listened to CBC two in its pure classical music format for 40 years but now, as standards erode, are spending increasing time with our own records. Please restore your old high standards.
I have been an avid listener of CBC Radio 2 for over thirty years (I am now 42 years old). The classical music programming that CBC provides cannot be found elsewhere. If not for programs such as Music and Company, Here's to You, Disc Drive and the now cancelled Sound Advice, new and established performers would not have their music heard by a national audience. I urge the CBC to cancel these changes. If the CBC does not do so I will cease listening.
More investment is needed in CBC Radio 2 so that Canadians who live in isolated areas such as northern Ontario etc. may benefit from offerings that other Canadians are fighting to keep in the more populated areas. Expansion of CBC radio services is needed, not contraction.
All these recent changes and especially killing the CBC Orchestra has completely destroyed CBC radio's reason to exist period. Please start promoting our artists, composers and performers to canadians again. That is your raison d'etre: not some lame misguided idea of being a 'with it
Please maintain the quality of radio to which we are accustomed and which we appreciate. There are not many networks of this quality left in North America. Do not lower your standards and disappear in the mediocre crowd.
CBC 2 has been known for its fine programming of classical music. We listen to it every day, starting with Tom Allen on weekday mornings. We miss the good music on Saturday mornings. Don't cut back any more. There are lots of other stations playing pop music. Cocntinue to be special!
As a Canadian composer of serious music where will I be heard without the classical music format. Why can't there be a CBC 3 for the world music and pop music.
I agree wholeheartedly with this petition and want to add my voice to the thousands who have already stood up to say that the maintenance of CBC radio 2's quality programming is extremely important not only to those of us who already love classical music, but also to the younger generations who have yet to discover it. It's up to you, CBC!
I'm already listening some of the time to a COMMERCIAL classical music station broadcasting from Gatineau Quebec. If CBCR2 goes down hill any more, I'll switch completely, but listeners in other areas won't have an alternative...
Please please please I beg you, revisit your programming choices! Bring back the old CBC Radio2 - the ONLY place on my radio dial where I could listen to quality programming and classical music. Thank you.
I think the changes contemplated in the programming for radio 2 are most regrettable. Hosts like Friesen and Gothe are like companions. Please keep their programs on the radio
It is unthinkable that budget cuts can cost us any part of our national communications company. It is a unifier of our huge country. Music soothes the soul and we can all stand a little soothing.
CBC Radio Two has been a uniquely Canadian pillar of the radio firmament for decades and we should not allow it's demise because of pandering to the faddish whims that currently prevail in today's society. These
